Are you sure it's overheating? When you say it shutdowns, does it actually close the operating system in a proper way or lose power suddenly?

If your system loses power or won't boot up at all it indicates problem with the cooling system in this case fans or heatsink. I could also mean a bad power supply. Clean and check both.

Otherwise, investigate windows config & settings.

Does this happen for the first time you boot it while its still cold? If yes, then I doubt it's an overheating problem. If it is an overheating problem then make sure your PC is clean inside. Dust on any heatsinks only attracts more heat. Clean it out really well before you spend any money on fans. Has it always done this? Are you overclocking? If your overclocking, back it down a bit or you are going to burn out your components.

Normal temperature should be 40 -50 degrees centigrade.First of all, listen if you can hear the fan and feel at the outlet if it is working, if not you must replace it. As a general rule, make sure that your laptop is on a hard surface and check there is no dust in it. You can also buy these boards with fans in them to put under it.

look at you cpu fan, if its got dust clean it out. also check the motherboard, if your cpu has got really hot your motherboard might buckle (melt change to bubble shape) then your fan wont be properly connected to the board and it will keep on causing your computer to shut down
