What do we have?

One Windows 2003 Server with Active Directory
Several Windows XP Pro computers login with Active Directory users.
TCP/IP network through Linksys switch
Three network printers (connected directly to the LAN) from various manufactures.

What do we want?

To manage who can use what printer.
To track how many print request someone or group has made during certain period.
Create reports with totals, usage etc. for each printer.

Question .... how can we realize this?

I've managed to set up this adapter on various Windows systems, but now I am trying to install it on Linux. Havning never used Linux before I a bit lost, and I've already managed to corrupt the disk trying :) so I thought I'd try Yahoo! Answers. Everything I've seen before has said this Windows drivers should work, but I can't work out how to use them, either.
Please message me with any questions before answering. I can give you some screenshots if you tell me how to do that on Linux :)

I've currently got a broadband router (not wireless) to connect to the internet from my desktop. If i buy i wireless router to use my internet connection on my laptop, will it go:

outside cable line>router>wireless router>desktop.

i'd like to keep a cable connection for my desktop and just use the laptop wirelessly. Will I be able to do this?

I was looking at the Linksys BEFSX41 firewall router. Basically, from what I understand with Windows Internet Version 7, it is better to have a router (or hardware firewall) than to depend on Norton's Antivirus and Firewall? Any suggestions? Is an upgrade to Norton's 2007 version good enough? What is bricking a router?

I am looking to buy a laptop for college and have selected one. How does internet for it exactly work? The college I am going to does not have wireless in the dorm rooms. How does this work then? They have a network that can be connected to through a port, is that the internet connection? Or must I provide my own? If so, how do I do this since it can't be wireless?

Just bought this new Netgear wireless router. In all the documentation it says to go to this site to change settings. When I type in the URLS, I get a "page cannot be displayed" screen....

I can surf the web on the desktop and laptop..just cannot hit these URLS.

Is the site down or something? I have cleared my cache and sone everything I can think of to access it.

I have a WRTP54G router/firewall that they give out with Vonage. I have a desktop with a wired connection and I recently purchased a laptop connecting through wifi. Everything work fine, I have a home network working. I'm using WPA encyption and MAC address filtering. Howver, when I shut off the laptop or take it out of range from the network and bring it back it cant connect to the router until I log into the router and restart the wireless access from the desktop PC. Any ideas on why it is doing this, or anyone having the same problem?

I'm wondering if it has to do with the security settings? I guess i cold turn them off and find out but I would rather not there are alot of people in my building.

Thanks...

I have a wireless laptop that connects to the internet through a wireless router. That is also hooked up to a regular hard wired router that two other computers are on which can both access the internet also through the regular cables. What I'm trying to do is be able to access the regular network using my wireless laptop but don't know if this is possible. What do I need to do to access the files I need. I think I got half way where I can see the files on another computer but when trying to access it, it says I don't have permission or unable to access. Can you help? Thanks a million!

I have a main router, a D-Link DIR-625 wireless-N router for my home network. I have it set up with WPA-2 and mac addressing. I have a D-Link DSM-320 MediaLounge I want to connect to my WinXP PC to access multimedia files and streaming content from the Internet, but it can only use WEP security. I don't want to drop the DIR-625 down to WEP, because I'd lose the benefits of wireless-N. Now, I have a second wireless router, a D-Link DI-624, that I've learned I can set up as a 'switch', so the MediaLounge can access the DI-624 using WEP security. Say the DIR-625, connected to the PC, is 192.168.0.1, while the DI-624, connected to the DIR-625 (LAN port #2 <--> LAN port #2), is 192.168.0.2. DHCP is also disabled on the DI-624. Now, I can access 192.168.0.1 (DIR-625), but not the DI-624 through 192.168.0.2. What am I missing here, and how can I get the MediaLounge to work with this second router? Does the DIR-625 need the Mac address of the DI-624 to acknowledge it? Thanks for any help, Mark
