I have my wireless router hooked up and there has been 2 unknown people/pc's that connected to my network. I want to know any way possible to protect my network so they stop stealing my bandwidth.

You have to access your router using your internet browser. Usually your manual, or the website of the router, will tell you how to do this. Once you're in, you have to go into Wireless Security and assign a password. This password is not something you would choose, but a number that the router will assign to you. Doing this, no one else can access it but you. When you then connect to your wireless network, it will ask you for a Network Key. This Key is the number assigned to you.

Hope this helps!

Enable encryption on your wireless network. Read the docs for instructions on how to do it.

If you have a choice between WEP and WPA, choose WPA. WPA can't be cracked. WEP can be cracked although it takes advanced knowledge to do so. If you must go with WEP, change your passkey monthly. NEVER use one of the pre-configured WEP passkeys. These are well-known and are easy to guess. Make up your own and use it.

Don't waste your time with MAC filtering. It is childs play to defeat it and you can wind up being blocked from your network. Turning off SSID broadcasts is also ineffective and easy to bypass.

Use MAC address filtering. Look on your nic card or the back of your commputer for its MAC address. 99% of routers have this kind of filtering built-in. Users will be able to see and somewhat log onto you wireless network but they will not be able to connect to the router with DHCP but if they use a static IP, they will look as if they are connected but there not.
