i am using Reliance dial-up connnection, i've tried using gateway also..

If you are using XP, press the Start button and go to the help page. Search for "internet connection sharing". It will tell you how, and give you a link to the wizard for setting it up.

I used it before DSL was available where I lived, and it works, though obviously slow

What it does is basically turns the PC that has the dial-up into a router. it does DHCP, NAT, and acts as the gateway.

create a local area network by going to my computer, my network places, setup a home or small office network and follow the wizard, its simple.
email if more assistance required.
