Just wondering what kind of speed per minute I'd be getting. I live like five seconds away from the nearest Telephone Exchange. Thanks very much.

If one computer can connect to the internet with dial-up, how come a second computer can't simply plug in the phone line and connect? I know there's more to it, but what do I do? I already have a connection with one computer, so what do I need to do to connect to the net with the second computer?

My cousin lives about 500 feet from me on a different road, the cable company will not run cable down our road even though it isnt that far away. i live in alabama so all the land between us is farm land and i can run ethernet along a fence or something(i'll figure it out later) but anyway someone told me i can only run ethernet 300 feet, and that i could put a router about every 250 feet and it will resend the signal for another 300 feet. i wanted to know if i theres something that will resend the signal thats cheaper than a router like it has an in and an out instead of an in and 4 outs, then i can just run it like that and put the routers in a plastic casing or something.

I'll be leaving for Italy in January, but the place I'll be staying at isn't up to date with technology so I won't have any internet access unless I go to an internet cafe. Is there any way to get online like using wireless cards off a satellite connection. Any ideas? Thanks

So I will ask again ... How can I connect a USB External HDD to an Ethernet Router to use as a network drive?

I own a USB external HDD, and a 4 port Ethernet wireless router and I want to connect the HDD directly to the router, can I get a converter, do I need to have a base unit (PC dedicated and always on) or can I connect it directly?

Cheers
Mike.

my laptop stoped connecting to the internet but it will ping a website. I tried to access the internet oin my old windows me desktop pc over the same wireless network but now that has the same problem. All i get is an ip address trying to connect at the bottom of the screen and then it comes up with the normal internet connection error page. I can still play games online so the connection is still ok, must be a problem with internet explorer.
Any help please?

My LAN is not working properly. It works only one side properly. On 2nd pc , when I try to connect via LAN from 2nd pc , message comes that the reason may be blank password. When my pc starts, I give blank password for logging in to windows (No password is there). How can I remove the log in to windows password so that LAN might work properly? Or please you may give any other suggestion for this problem.
