I have just spent long time sorting out similar problem (I'm no expert) problem was basically the ISP. I suffered v hi frequency of disconnects from the Internet & ayohel would never admit thier service was at fault. Just changed to BT today, wish me luck, same to you.

What type of modem? How old is the modem?
If the modem is really old you may need to download the new software on it from the OEM's web site.
without any further info I don't think any one will be able to help

sounds like you have alot of s-hit on your computer .maybe some spyware plus viruses,so if i was you i would download some anti-spyware program and an ati-virus program or you could just get a new computer
