I'm using Database Desktop 32 (paradox 7, if tht helps) and I want to be able to access that database over the internet. I have the program that uses it installed on both computers but want to use one as the 'server' and one as the 'slave'

Both computers using XP one is Prof and one is home edition if this helps.

Any Ideas????

To access the app over the internet, you'd have to port forward whatever ports the app uses to the machine where the database is installed. That's a potentially risky proposition. If there are any security holes in it, you could be hijacked pretty quickly.

Another option would be to set up a VPN gateway on your internet connection. That would keep the hackers out. I'd have to know a LOT more about what you're doing to advise on that.

hi, Have one table to carry the username and password. this can contain a key (which may be the organic key like the username, once you're making it unique) that you would use to link to a second table which shops what databases/tables/webpages and so on and so on that person has get admission to to. you need to set up your code so as that both tables are as a lot as date initially with an identical training. you may also be in a position to edit this later. you need to then take this theory extra, and performance a yet another table it really is as a lot as date with a unmarried get admission to everytime a person logs in. This table may only contain your username and a dateTime. accessible in case you want to song utilization. you may discover it effective monitoring down some free sq. courses of the cyber web related to common database layout - attempt searching at normalisation and joins. i do not understand the specifics on mysql, yet sq. syntax is rather uniform for the time of databases except for some database particular key phrases and connect syntax. good luck
