my laptop stoped connecting to the internet but it will ping a website. I tried to access the internet oin my old windows me desktop pc over the same wireless network but now that has the same problem. All i get is an ip address trying to connect at the bottom of the screen and then it comes up with the normal internet connection error page. I can still play games online so the connection is still ok, must be a problem with internet explorer.
Any help please?

Sounds like your dns server is down, try assigning a different one if you know of one.

Try going to the dos prompt and type

ipconfig /flushdns

This issue may be caused by the following:
* cache and cookies
* browser settings
* security applications on the computer system

Clear your browser's cache and cookies:
On Internet Explorer, click on top, . Click . Click when prompted. Click Click when prompted.

Check browser settings:
On , click , . Make sure that all options on LAN settings window are clear. Click if you cleared the options or if no changes has been made.

Security Applications:
Try disabling your Antivirus, Personal Firewall or any Internet Security application temporarily. If after disabling them displays a page on Internet Explorer, then the issue is being caused by the applications. You may want to contact your OEM's tech support and have them reconfigure the settings.

check for proxy server. After that, check for firewall. Delete cookies, files, check the security settings and restore to defaults.

Check your proxy settings in internet explorer. If you're not going through a proxy, then those should be unchecked.
