Also, are there places that pay a little money to pick the car up and tow it away? My car died and I bought a new one. I kind of just want to get rid of the old one and not worry about selling it.

I am transferring title from my sisters vehicle to me and the tags expire November 30th. Her renewal calls for a Smog Test, but it has failed and when I took it for the repairs, they say I need a new Catalytic Converter which will cost over $500. Can I get an extension on the registration and be able to successfully transfer title?

I bought a new car on Saturday then got in a wreck on Sunday. Luckily I am fully insured. I need to know who's fault this would fall under.
We were driving down a ice covered dirt road in the mountains of Utah pulling a trailer. We started down a very icy hilland slipped a few times. We were going about 5 miles per hour then got to a turn in the road just before hitting the steepest part of the hill. When we got around the hill we seen three vehicles sitting at the bottom of the hill blocking the road. At that point we were already committed to the hill and were unable to stop. We slid down the entire hill, trying our hardest to drive off the road but were unable to. We turned sideways as we hit the Toyota Camery which then spun around hitting the two other trucks parked next to it. Once we came to a stop the camper trailer we were pulling jack knifed hitting the other side of my newly bought car. Who's fault is it?

My wife and I are California residents, but we are in Hawaii on vacation and she got a speeding ticket on a rental car. If she paid the ticket, would that still go on her record? Is it better to try to contest it and see what the judge says? Is it even possible to go to driving school, or is that an option only when you get a ticket in some states? This is her first ticket and I hate to see it affect her insurance rates.

Someone broke into my car last weekend, it's an old VW Golf (12 years old) They broke the window, lock and steering column. Our insurance company gave the car a value of £650 and wrote the car off. They said we can have the car back and gave us a £500 cheque. We got the window fixed for £70 and the steering and lock for free. Now we are still driving the car, but am i insured if the ins company have written it off? We paid til the end of the year.

Hello all,

I forgot to get my MOT test in June (naughty me, I know). It has only come to my attention since the road tax disk is up for renewel in a few days.

When I called the garage to book an MOT, the guy said 'please bring your logbook and MOT certificate, it'll make it easier'. Do they need an MOT certificate? (Since obviously mine is now a few months out of date).

Thanks,

I know that a similar question like this was asked before but I'm looking for a better answer. I guess I could call the DMV but you know how long that takes! If anybody has any experience with this or even can direct me to a website, that would be helpful. Thanks so much.

Don't want to fix car because niece's dad is mechanic and he can do it for less and she can have a car. I also lost the title. Can they just get a lost title or do I have to. Do I have to register it in my name first in Ca. I never drove it and I have had it for 6 months.

well i've been driving around for 9 months now w/out insurance. my car's a 2001 dodge neon standard model and i paid cash for it (no car note). im afraid that if im pulled over by the chp my car will get towed. im on a budget and i really need an affordable monthly premium. im 28 yrs old i got my driving license at 26 yrs old then got 2 tickets like 2 months later. one ticket was a failure to yield on a right turn w/ a red light and as a result i caused an accident but there was no bodily harm or property damage to the other driver only to my car it was totaled and i wasn't harmed. i recently was pulled over and given a speeding ticket too. what is the difference in full vs. liability insurance? i do know that liability is cheaper. which should i consider? also does anyone know of any insurance co. that don't require a huge down payment to start?and would insure my car w/out a huge monthly premium?

It was a really bad accident, but the damage is more than $500. I had just canceled my insurance in october with intentions on getting another policy with another company, but OOPS. Anyways, the accident was the other drivers fault she T-boned me. After the accident I was a little shooken up and lost all my common sense, I obtained her name, phone#, and address but no insurance info. Where do I go from here? How bad did I screw up? The other driver says it was my fault, I know for a fact that I wasn't at fault, I also have a witness, who was at one of the other stops signs in the four way stop. What do I do? who should I call?
