If the title is in your name, you can file with the DMV for "Lost Title" A lot of scrap metal places will pick up the car for free without a title. Call around.

there are to things you can do call your local DMV and you can file for a lost title. it cost about $10 and will take 7 to 10 days. Or if you do not plan on selling the car and wish to call someone to tow it away just tell them you have lost the title they can still take the car with just a bill of sale and they can file for the lost title . If the car is going to be used just for junk the title isn't needed at all.

If you have lost the title, you can go to the office that handles registration and apply for a duplicate title. Call any of the places that will accept donations of vehicles and not charge for the tow, but be sure to notify the DMV that you have given the car away, or you may find yourself responsible for something done in the vehicle by the new owner if they don't change it over.

You have to have the title to get a car towed or removed to prove you own it so there are no possible lawsuits for the tow company or scrap yard, the secretary of state or DMV can help with your search for a title. As for disposal many scrap yards will at least to a car away for free if not pay some money for the car.

You should be able to order a replacement title from your Department of Motor Vehicles or Secretary of State office. Shouldn't cost you more than $25.00, and under the worst of circumstances you'd have it in six weeks. Don't know of any place that will give you money for a car that doesn't run, but there are a bunch of chartiable organizations like Purple Heart, Mother Waddles, and some offices of the Salvation Army that'll come get your car at no cost to you, and you can write off the blue-book value of the car on your income tax.

Go to the place that you go to to renew your car license when it's due and file a lost title form. There will be a fee for this. They will find the title for the vehicle and if it is free and clear and in your name, you will receive a new copy of the title in the mail. If the title comes back as not yours, you could expect a knock on your door from a gentleman wearing a badge, wanting to know how you came to be in possession of said vehicle. Be sure you have proof of purchase in your possession.

take it to the junkyard. Around here I get $115 per car for them to crush it. If you want a title go to the Treasurers office and pay the $5 for a new one.

go to thee license plate store and tell them you lost the title ---you may have to prove that it is your car as well as them looking in the computer------------a bunch of wrecking yards will pay you for your old car --you must give them the title (get a new one) and shop on the phone for the best pick up price...

Junk it, if you don't want to sell it. Juck yards (at least around here) don't care if you have a title or not.
