My wife was backing out of a parking place and hit a tree from the side of the car. One of the windows of the car was broken; there was no damage to the tree. We have full coverage (including collision). Some one is telling me, that it's better to pay for the repairs from my own pocket. They are saying that my insurance will go up if the insurance company get to know about the incident.

Is this true? And if this is the case, what's the point of having collision coverage, if I can not use it?

I was driving a friend's car, hit by another vehicle, then learned my friend's husband had (accidentally, I assure you) failed to pay the auto insurance bill. As the uninsured driver, I am liable for the damage to both cars by CA law. I had no reason to suspect that I was driving an uninsured vehicle and would not have done so had I been aware of the situation. My friend is paying for the damage to her car (minor- the bumper had been ripped up, but no body work needed), and I was sent a bill for the damage to the other (considerably worse). I certainly don't have the money for this, but the other driver's insurance won't pay for it, nor will my friend (I'm only slightly bitter considering I'm broke, she's loaded, and I was doing her a favor when this happened. Meh). Anyway, am I legally responsible for this? The accident wasn't my fault and I didn't know I was driving uninsured.

My wife was involved in a multi-vehicle accident started by another driver in which four cars were totaled and some people were injured. It appears that everyone is covered by insurance. If insurance is covering the situation, why would one of the drivers retain an attorney to sue the other drivers?

I've insurance policy under my father since I was single. Now I'm married and I included my husband on the policy. We moved out of my parents house. My husband and I just bought a new car and the car is under my husband's name but still have the insurance under my father. The insurance co. sent a form asking for the car registration and address information. Can they terminate my policy if the address is different than my father's?

Me and my husband just moved and need to change our address on our driver's licenses. Do we have to go in a take ANOTHER picture or can I just change the address online and they send us a new one? We just changed the adresses on them 7 months ago after we got married and moved in together.

We live in Texas and our licenses don't expire until 2008.

Today I asked my friend if she can give me a ride home from school. After dropping me off, I got a phone call saying she just got a ticket for going 30 on a 25 mph road and also got another ticket because she doesn't have her car insurance. I feel horrible because if I didnt ask her, it wouldn't of happened. Is it my fault and should I also half for her tickets?

I had a minor (5 mph) accident with my '99 Saab Convertible. What looked like just replacing bumper was estimated at $8000 of repairs (1/2 parts, 1/2 labor). GEICO opted to "total" the car at a value of $8300. The comps were based on 8 local cars - 2 were actual sales at avg of $8700; 3 were dealer ads at avg of $7900.

My research suggests their dealer ads as comps are bogus -- my two local dealer comps (including 1 from same deal that had their lowest comp) is ~$9500. Clearly their dealer comps were selling very bad cars, but they didn't give VIN # - just license plates.

My 5 comps indicate the value is $8700 to $9300.

Maybe if I get value high enough, I will convince them to fix my car (for $8000) - any suggesting on facts or arguments that work with GEICO (I tried good condition, new tires, new convertible top)

My friend hit a girl (he was driving a rental) and it did minor damage to her car and none to hers. She got all his insurance information, and asked him on a date in which he is going on right now, a day later. He feels obligated because she didnt file a police report and my question is, since she left the scene of the accident and it was mutual, is it even possible for her to file one? (she seems to be hanging it over his head, i'm tryin to get him out of this situation! hahah) I'm in Georgia if that helps, please help soon! He is there now!
