My hubby just got rid of a truck that was 17 years old and well taken care of . The mileage was 200,000 , and my son drove a Ford Explorer that was 14 years old that had 178,000 miles. He just decided to get a new car. It all depends on how well you maitain your vehicle.

I've had a few used cars, and then passed them on to my sons. I have noticed cars seem to really go down hill after 180k miles, although I have a 86 Mustang with 226k with a new motor, but I think performance cars are the exception as someone puts a lot of money in them to bring them back to life :)

It all depends on the vehicle and how it is cared for. For example, I own a 21 year old Mercedes-Benz diesel with 376,000 miles.--the truth.
