Recently I was leaving my sister's house after dark and as I backed out of the driveway, I hit a black car parked on the other side of the street.

I went back in and told my sister, who was quite angry because her development has a home owners assoc. rule that no one is allowed to park on the street. This is because the builder intentionally built the streets very narrow and the driveways very shallow to get as many homes on the land as possible. The driveways zig-zag down the street, so anywhere you park on the street, you are parked behind a driveway, and there are no street lights. My sister said people who break this rule are just tempting fate. The developer put in two guest parking lots, so there is plenty room for visitors or three car families.

Still, we contacted the owner and a police report was filed, me being at fault. Obviously, the police can't enforce Home Owner Association bylaws. Can my insurance use the bylaws to deny the claim of the owner of the car?

When someone opens their car door into mine and causes a dent, I would like to have them pay for it. Should I just take their insurance info or license # down? Will their insurance even pay for the damages if the cars are not moving and do I need to call police to get a report filed? I just bought a nice car and, judging from previous experience, it is not a matter of if this will happen but when this happens again.

I got into a car accident on Wednesday, making my Thanksgiving horrible. I was rear ended on 95, forcing me into the back of another car. I found out that the person who hit me also has Progressive insurance. Is this going to screw me? Is a company going to go after itself as much as say it would if it was another company? Does it matter? Is the only positive of this ordeal going to be it will be resolved faster?

Seemingly, more claims come on this date than on any other... have you made a claim through an incident on this particular day and date?

Checking their claims with interest:-)

Ok. Thanksgiving day, I had all my relatives over my house. There was no place to park in my driveway, so I park in the street, just in front of my driveway. Later that night I go out to see a movie (me and my brother went in his car), come home and see my car smashed up a little bit (now it is backed into my driveway).

Turns out the neighbor backed into my car while I was gone. At first she’s telling me that if I need any of her insurance info, its no problem... then she follows up and says "even though your car WAS parked illegally.."

She’s also claiming that I was parked in front of her mailbox, which I know I was not, because I am always conscious about doing so. However- her son is a cop and I’m afraid he can make the story fit however he wants. (He was standing beside her, out of uniform pretty much to intimidate me)

So my question is- is she not fully responsible for this incident?
Roads were fine and everything. By the way I am in Michigan. Thanks in advance

In Early October 2006, a Car was purchased from dealership in New York. The dealership collected state taxes for new jersey, registration fee, license feet, etc and promised to deliver the plates within four - six weeks. It has been over 1.5 Month and every time the dealership is giving run around saying it will take another two days, etc, etc. Originally the car was financed using Auto Loan and three weeks later, paid off by using Balance Transfer. As of this moment, dont have Title or License Plates, what can be done?

Please advise.

We recently found out when we received our TX registration papers on a truck we traded off earlier in the year. We find out it is still in our name, we call the county clerks office, no help, called the dealership and they sold the truck to a wholesaler and have no clue where it is. They told us not to worry, there is a good paper trail on the truck proving we traded it off and nothing would fall back on us. Our loan officer at the credit union told us not to take that as an anwer, now we can not get any help from the dealership, no call back or email when we call to ask what to do or email. So, what do we do next. If they left us on the title, give the truck back and I will glady bring their truck back! Any advice of who to contact or what to do before something happens with this truck and we get brought into it even though we do not have it.

Thanks in advance.

I'm considering about buying a new honda civic car . I heard somebody say that 2-door car's insurance is always more expensive than the 4-door one. is that right ? (remember that the 2-door car and the 4-door car have the same features, machines)

And how they calculate the amount of my car insurance? What do they depend on?
