What is the Best Subscription for Automotive Diagnostic and Repair service? I am not ASE certified, I learned how to fix cars by figuring them out myself. I am repairing a differnt car every two weeks, and It would help to have something to help. Haynes and chilton books help a little, but do not provide enought detail to dianose many problems. Alldata by autozone.com is one what others are out there, and which would be best for me? I can't afford to buy the OEM books for every car I work on? Thanks

Trying to remove the 4Cyl 2.4L KA24E Engine from the Nissan Pickup is very, very hard. It's a 1992.

Unbolted the Transmission from behind the engine. Removed the Starter, Unbolted the Motor Mounts.

The Oil Pan didn't want to clear the Front Axle, but we managed to jack it up onto the top of the Axle so it's riding it now.

But now the Engine is wedged. It won't pop out of there!

The Transmission and Engine appear to be uncoupled. You can see the Flywheel.

Should we shove the Engine back down and pull the Oil Pan off?

Dammit Nissan! This is not being friendly at all.

Any ideas?

OK, I am looking for a black plastic part about the size of a thimble that has retaining wedges on the inside to hold the pin on the side of the clutch pedal assembly and retaining wedges on the outside to hold the pin on the side of the clutch pedal assembly into the eye hole of the actuator of the master hydraulic clutch assembly. Pretty much, pin attached to clutch pedal assembly fits into eye hole of master hydraulic clutch cylinder but falls out cause black plastic retainer is broken. I need a new one but nobody knows what I am talking about. Please tell me the part number or where I can find this thing.

Thanks

I'm having the front driver's side window replaced on my vehicle. It was completely shattered. They want to charge me $180 for the replacement window and to install it.
My question? Is that a fair price to charge? I have a '99 Ford Taurus. Do you think I could get a better deal?
They also come out to your house and do the work.

Runs through the gears great, low end, top end ( until 70-75 mph). Get on the throttle and it acts like it starves, get back to 70 mph range and runs fine, no power after that. Sync'd carbs, cleaned carbs, jets and set valve clearance. Rebuilt carbs and and all pull even.

Maybe fuel & air adjustment? Maybe old age?
Any performance tips or pointers?

I have located where the turn signal flasher is on my 1995 Pontiac Grand Am. Problem- I cannot remove the old one to replace it with the new one. Is there a special way your supposed to hold it and pull on it? Or dismantle it altogether? It just won't budge.

I have a bunch. I hate it when I am trying to get on the highway and the person in front of me is going too slow, then the guy tailgating me speeds up and cuts me off when I am trying to merge. And I hate it when I am making a left on a green arrow, and the car across the street makes a right in front of me. Grrr. Wait for your own green light!

I have the factory made dual carb intake manifold & since it was hard enough to find the intake manifold I figure finding the proper fitting exhaust manifold would be impossible.Plus I'd like dual exhaust since I've got an NOS pair of Hush Thrush 70's Mufflers off eBay.So if they sell an after market part for my Canadian build flathead 6 cylinder 218 then that'll be great.I understand the Canadian build 218 blocks or a little longer than U.S. made blocks also.Plus I'm no Mechanic, just a back yard Mechanic. It's been my dream to drive an old pickup truck some day & have to finish this truck ASAP while I've still got my folks with me, they'd love to see it too.I started this truck in May of 1998 & would love to get it on the road this summer.I'm slow working at it since I've got 2 knee's & a hip replacement from having Rheumatoid Arthritis since age 5.I can only work on good days & being single there's the cashflow bit. Thanks if anyone can help. fargophil@rogers.com

I have been experiencing problems with braking. I noticed that the brake paddle does not go all the way down, and that I must apply a lot of force to press the brake, therefore, to stop. Now I figured this meant that I just need some more pads, because there is the screeching noise. But I have never ever experience such an inability to press the brakes and a vibrating sensation in the paddle as I apply them. Could this mean more than a need for new pads? I have heard several things: low brake fluid, bad caliper, possible lack or fluid to the caliper, and just plain ole' need for pads. So I'm uncertain of the seriousness of the problem, I will be having it looked at real soon, I just want to know what to expect. This is a fairly new vehicle, I have only had it for five weeks and have only driven it four times, and I am not currently driving it now. Please help.

My 99 Escort zx2 wont take a jump start. I turned if off one day and then one second later it would not start. Everything was dead. I hooked up the cables from my Expedition and nothing. I hooked it up correctly but it just wont take a jump start. This happened to me me a while back and the mechanic replaced the battery. That battery is still brand new. No corrosion at all on the terminals. No gunk or anything on the battery.
