In the Ford Service guide that came with my Ford Focus 1.8 petrol it says that the timing belt renewal interval is 100 000 miles or 10 years. Does this mean that when this is reached the garage replaces just the belt or is it their responsibility to renew the tensioner and the idler pulley as well? If these should be renewed when the belt is, why doesn't ford mention them in the service guide booklet?

We have a 4 year old Kia Rio.

We are continually loosing the internal lights, dash boards lights, air bags and once we lost the rear headlamps (if that is the right term!)

More recently the electric locking mechanism has gone mad and keeps trying to lock itself when you are trying to unlock.

Other than throwing the car away, or stocking up on fuses (which seems to fix it for a few weeks!) has anyone got any ideas on how we can fix this?!

Thanks,
Kate

Cars with automatic transmissions have certain benefits (easier to drive) and cars with manual transmissions have other benefits (cheaper to purchase and repair and uses less petrol).

I wonder why the majority of cars in USA have automatic transmissions, while the majority in Europe have manual (driving with a "stick").
Any historical or other explanations why it is like that?

I need help badly. I own a 1998 Ford Explorer which I really like but quits running when the weather is too cold. Nobody can tell me the reason why it keeps on doing that. Sometimes it's having hard time starting even if it's not that cold at all. Should I sell it and get a newer/new one? Just paid this off and I hate and can't afford to have additional debt. Please help and thank you.

I recently got a car cassette adapter for my MP3 player and technically everything would have been good but the cassette player won't play correctly. It will begin to play but then it ejects the cassette. I tried using another adapter and it does the same thing. I was told removing the gears and access junk in it might help, but now it just spins without stopping. I pulled the panel off in attempt to clean the cassette deck, but even after removing all the screws I can seperate the frames. It appears to be held together by something inside. As a last resort I figured I could just buy a replacement one on ebay. I saw a cheap replacement panel with the cassette deck for a cheap price, but it's rotary knobs not digital push buttons. I was wondering if anyone knew if the rotary knobs would work inexchange for the digit buttons? The panel is for the same 1999 Ford Taurus so I figured it would be okay but read otherwise. Can anyone offer any advise otherwise for me to do to repair or replace
