I've been riding for over 25 years and I really enjoy it. Once you get started you will find that riding a motorcycle makes you feel free to go anywhere you want and feel the wind blowing through your hair. I remember when I told my wife that I was getting a motorcycle, she said you can but I will never ride on it. Now she loves going on rides just as much as I do. There is beauty that you experience that can't be experienced in any other vehicle. I ride all year long except when there is ice or snow on the road. Eventually I will retire to some place where I can ride even more. They say you know a happy motorcyclist because he is the one picking bugs out of his teeth. (always smiling) I have swallowed my share! I love it!!!

I ride a Yamaha Fazer 600 and ride all year round in all weathers (except snow) and have done so for about 10yrs. I would not change it for the world as it is the only way to get through London. The only reason I don't ride in snow is that the other road users seem to have never seen snow before and DO NOT change their driving style to suit the conditions therefore it is far too hazardous.

There is nothing like the freedom of riding a bike. I have a Harley Davidson Street Glide and it is a cruiser, and is very comfortable, even on long trips. The AM/FM CD player makes everything seem like a car with the windows rolled down, with the excitement of leaning in the curves, the ability to accelerate faster than every other car or truck on the road, and the wind in your hair. If it's raining or snowing, I just take my pickup where ever I need to go to.

I have a 1985 Yamaha Virago 700 and sometimes I wish I had a 2005 Suzuki Bandit 600s instead.

I love riding my bike.
There is no greater feeling then to twist that throttle and go.

However, here is the down side.
Bugs! Big juicy bugs-SUCK. Clean your bike and you find BUGS.
Cold rain also sucks. When I'm far from home and I know I'm going to get caught in the rain, I usually wish I took my car, but I keep riding.
Once I dry off, I forget about the rain and the car, until that big juicy bug hits the center of my visor.

Really, I love riding(said through clinched teeth).

I used to use my bike every day to commute to work as it was the quickest and easiest way there. Now My work is closer to home so there is no advantage to getting kitted up to ride to work.
My bike's become a toy now and apart from fuel it will cost me less than £200 to run this year!
What I have noticed though is now I'm only using it at weekends I'm tending to ride it harder than I used to. Less traffic I suppose.
I work on cars for a living so I have no interest in 4 wheels outside of work.

I love my sportster but I couldn't live without my truck. How do you get groceries, lumber, or haul a kayak on a motorcycle?
In my opinion a motorcycle should always be your second vehicle. That being said I would much rather ride my bike whenever I can which is most days.

at times itd be nice to have a roof and a windshield (maybe heating) but i wouldnt like a car I prefer the freedom, fuel economy and traffic-queue busting ability of two wheels. Oh, a magic forcefield for when volvo drivers 'just didnt see you' would be good as well

I don't think it's an either or question...
I love my motorcycle...but I also love my car. Sometimes one is more convenient than the other...sometimes the motorcycle just doesn't make sense to ride (if I have a lot to transport, snow, etc)
I just pick the right tool for the job.

when im stuck in traffic i wish i had a push bike so i could ride on the pavement. but i love a sunday cruise seeing a couple on their push bikes on a twisty road in the country i sit behind them with my right indicator on untill they clear the corner then smoothly overtake when safe to do so. if i see hazards ahead i'll slow down enough so i can point them out with my foot. bikings about enjoying yourself, but its our responsibility to ensure other road users do as well and vice versa. bad manners or agressive riding/driving and jogging can cost lives. i just love riding the roads.
