The S2000 is no more expensive to maintain on the normal maintenance schedule items than any other 4 cylinder Honda. They are very reliable and the maintenance is minimal by the 'book'. There are no real product problems with the S2000. There were some shift fork issues on the early models (pre 2004) that resulted from poorly timed downshifts but Honda has changed the design of the forks and that is no longer a condern. there were also a couple of recalls on the pre-2005 models that Honda took care of at no charge.

the one costly expense is the tires. the originals will last about 20,000 miles. if you want to replace them with the same soft compound tires then the cost is pretty strong. The originals are W rated tires which is the top of the price range. You can go with H rated tires that are a bit harder for half the price of the originals and still get a good, safe ride.

Hope that answers your questions.

The s2k is a very very very reliable car. make sure you regularly change the trans fluid, oil and check the brakes and you'll be a-ok. Just take care of your top, convertible repair is costly. As far as the OEM tires go, those were those hard-as-a-rock-crap.... definitely not worth it in my opinion. Go with a nice grippy CHEAP all season tire and you'll enjoy your car even more.
