I have a 1989 Corrolla with an in-dash, after market Toshiba CD player with a faceplate. How do I remove it from the dash without tearing everything apart? Is there a special tool I need?

Yes, there's a tool called "Radio Removal Tool." It's a "thing" you slide in next to the side of a radio or CD Player and this tool forces the clips on the side of the unit to release. You do it on both sides and then just pull the unit out.
Some auto parts stores or auto sound stores carry this tool.

In a Toyota, after-market CD players are usually installed with an ISO-mount (especially if the CD player is located in the top-dash area, not the lower area in front of the center console). ISO-mount means the factory mounting brackets are removed from the factory radio and attached to the sides of the new CD player; then it's mounted onto the metal dash structure and the dash panel is replaced over the top. If yours was installed in this way, then you can't pull it out with removal tools; you'll need to take off the dash panel and unscrew the brackets before the CD player will come out.

you'll likely ought to get rid of the piece of sprint that the cage suits into. there are little tabs contained in the cage that you push out and lock hostile to the back of the sprint to make all of it solid. merely push those back into the cage and slide it out of the sprint. e mail me once you've any extra questions in this please.
