I have Maruti 800,Model 1999.Recently it has started producing some ratteling noise-particularly when once speeded up ,followed by deceleration. On checking,I found that this noise was being generated within from the Catalytic Converter.Although I am going to get it checked it from the Maruti authorized Garage but still I would like to consult the experts .What could be the remedy? I am told that perhaps the baffels inside the converter have broken and they need to be removed. Will it work? Should I go for replacement of the entire converter which I think is very expensive? Pl suggest.

1995 Ford Contour V6-153 2.5L DOHC 125k mi auto.
The ignition system shuts off after 5 minutes of operation (no spark).
It runs fine then quits after the idle goes down, when the choke disengages. No misfire, no running rough, it just quits.
After setting for 1 hour, it can be started and will run for another 5 minutes.

Is there any way or a chemical of some sort that I could use when I change the oil to remove the sludge? I've owned a few similar vehicles and never seen this before, but I love my 84 Lincoln Towne Car so I would like to keep her going as long as possible. Any recommendations or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Had my brake pads ( front and rear ) replaced last September ..have noticed in the last few weeks that there is a grinding sound coming from the rear of the car when I apply the brakes.I can also hear a click sound from them when I use the brakes car after it has been standing overnight...this stops after a while...I've taken the car back to the garage and they have replaced the rear pads under warranty and they have been ok for a few weeks now the grinding/clicking is back..

Thanks

1948 22R engine carb just started to flood, ran fine till yesterday. Only way to make it start is to disconnect the fuel supply line. it seems to not send enough gas back out of the carb. Once the fuel line is reconnected it runs till it floods again. HELP

I'm considering restoring a Studebaker Commander Starliner and was wondering what engine I could put in it. I know very little about car restoration, I'm just researching costs. I'm not shooting for authenticity, I just want a good engine that will fit and pass CA smog standard tests.

It seems to me that the freeway columns in the San Francisco area are faulty. It seems that they are prone to falling down than in other areas of the state. Is it because the design of the freeways are faulty?

I bought a Rubicon Jeep last may and have had to take it back three times before I even had it six months! It seems part of the motor parts are from mercedes.. They put plactic tips on the end of the forks.. Ares wore out in six months so they had to replace them.. It hurt the reverse and the thrid gears.. After they fixed it they said It will happen again..So if they know its going to happen again why not replace the plactic tips with some thing stonger? Its suppose to be one of the toughest jeeps..

Basically, have the plane break into sections and have huge parachutes to easily take the pilots and passengers to safety.

I got this idea after seeing tanks being dropped from airplanes with parachutes. So it could be done.

I'm looking at buying my first car and was wondering how many miles are too many? How many are suspiciously low? Are old VWs easy to fix or find parts for?

Finally, what is something you wish you'd known about cars before you started driving?

I want to clean the carbs on my bike. I have NEVER done anything like this before. I'm a bit overwhelmed by what I see in the Clymer manual. It seems fairly complicated for a guy like me.

Anyways, I really want to do it but I definitely want to take all neccesary precautions. I love my bike and I want to do it right. Can you guys help me out? What do I need to watch out for? What should I NOT do?

What are the float bowls???

Thanks,

Ed

I have read about at least 2 people who have written about road tests of motorcycles on their personal webpages, that say that the bike they tested was provided by a dealership. While it is understandable that a dealer or manufacturer may provide a bike for reporters of a well-established motorcycling magazine to review, how do private individuals get dealerships to let them road test their motorcycles?

And why would any dealership let them use their motorcycles for road tests by private individuals that are not affiliated with a magazine or a professional motorcyclist without buying the bike?

This seems strange, because I wonder what dealerships have to gain by letting someone have their bikes simply to put a review on their personal web page, given the obvious liabilities that are involved with motorcycles in general.
