I bought a Rubicon Jeep last may and have had to take it back three times before I even had it six months! It seems part of the motor parts are from mercedes.. They put plactic tips on the end of the forks.. Ares wore out in six months so they had to replace them.. It hurt the reverse and the thrid gears.. After they fixed it they said It will happen again..So if they know its going to happen again why not replace the plactic tips with some thing stonger? Its suppose to be one of the toughest jeeps..

I want to add we love our rubicon! Its a 2006 model..I forgot to add that.. We just think its silly to put plastic on a Jeep! Its made to have fun with not worry about things going wronge with the trany..Ours is a manual 4.2. We dont want get rid of it we just want them to add metal instead of plastic on the fork tips.. Ours already wore out once and there getting bad again..

I own two Rubicons, 05 and 06, and I know hoardes of Rubi owners. There are some common issues, but I have not heard of the issues you are having. Overall I think they are great vehicles (my personal opinion).

If it happens again, you might qualify for a dealership buy-back under the lemon law. If it does happen again, can you take it to a different dealership?

FYI, The 6-speed manual transmission in 05-07 Rubicons is a Mercedes unit. Everything else on the Jeep is made in the USA or Canada.

I have a 2003 RUBICON Wrangler.
with the heavy duty five speed manual.
Have not experienced any trouble at all.
And just now going over 65'000 miles.
I do find with the Big trany gears this one has.
that when i'm shifting it is very easy to over rev before each shift and I will feel it be very sticky and hard to move the stick.
but if I keep my shift pattern down in the lower rev cycles. It performs quite well.

I don't own A Rubicon, but sounds to me like I don't want one if they're making transmission parts out of plastic now. In this case I would take it back to the dealer under the lemon law and get your money back. If you want a Jeep buy an older model.
