Now the car will not go into any gear. Almost like it's disconnected? Any advice on where to start checking?
Thanks

Well, it may be that she jammed your transmission gears, or possibly broke your shift linkage.

This isn't something you can fix yourself, unfortunately. You'll have to take it to a transmission shop.

Hope this helps!

She might have broken a parking pawl but that would not result in it being "disconnected." It would only result in losing its ability to hold a grade without the use of the parking brake (a no-no anyway). It is more likely that you broke a CV joint in one of the axles. A healthy CV joint would have withstood the abuse. It was probably bad to begin with. Go easy on the sister. To test it, do the following: 1) set the parking brake. 2) put the car in drive. 3) look to see if one of the half shafts (axles) are rotating. If a half shaft is turning, you have a broken CV. If not, try checking the transmission fluid level and maybe a trany filter change.

Sorry, don't be to hard on her, everyone makes mistakes. your gonna need to have a shop look at it. If it needs to be repalced, try finding one at a wrecking yard.
