I laughed when you said you wanted to ask the experts meaning Yahoo Answers people. Don't take advice from anyone on here. They just want the points. They could care less about your issues and if they claim to be a mechanic or a technician can you prove that they really are?? Thought so. Go see the guy at the garage. Hes the expert not people on Yahoo Answers who lie 85% of the time.

Cat converter new to your country? Here in the states we've had them for 30+ years. Any engine misfire can overheat the converter. Keep the engine running properly. Converter is a couple of ceramic elements and wire mesh with rare earth minerals like pladinium and platinum. Usually the ceramic elements become burnt away from the metal can and rattle. Drive hard and pieces can break loose and clog your exhaust. For converters located right next to the engine pieces can be blown back into the engine scraping up and down the Cly. walls. No matter replace the converter.

I would have all attachment point check and if they have come off then re attached, baffles can be removed but then it is just matter of time to get new converter, new can cost a lot of money but they do have their life, about 150,000 miles max.
They need to check under carriage on the lift. See what is making noise, missing bracket are cheap compared to converter or muffler.

you have to replace it. it is broken up inside and it will not pass smog check. Don't worry its not that expensive to replace unless you go to Midas or some place like that. A universal cat can be purchased at kragens or auto zone for around $50 bucks. know someone with a MiG welder?

No valid save will attempt this for you, they could be subject to getting suspended in the adventure that they adjust a automobile in the type of way that that is unlawful. in simple terms go away it on my own, once you're previous sufficient to proceed to exist your own do what you want, yet now your dad is the boss.

It is pretty common for them to go out. It's not too expensive to replace as long as you go for aftermarket parts. The dealer will rape you!
