ok i bought a jet kit for my 2006 Yamaha Raptor 350. The carb came stock with a 142.5 jet and the Dynojet jet kit i bought says to use a 132 jet. I thought you go bigger than stock instead of smaller or am i wrong. The jet kit included 120-140 jets. the box is says for use on 04-06 raptor 350. What do need to do. Please help. Thanks

The reason i bought this jet kit is because i bought an aftermarket pipe and K&N airfilter.

As simplistic as this sounds, the reason is because Dynojet doesn't use the same reference numbers that the other manufacturers use!

A 132 DYNOJET jet will flow more than the manufacturers 142.5 because the numbers they represent aren't measuring the same thing.

I've been round and round with Dynojet because of this, but of course their way is the best way and everyone else needs to change... Beware that Dynojet is making some of the smaller companies and 'hot rod' shops house brand jet kits (Alba Racing comes to mind) and so those same 'freaky' numbers are going to surface outside of a Dynojet box too.

Personally, I've quit using Dynojet kits for this reason.

Do what the box says. A jet kit works along with your air filter and exhaust. Depending on what upgrades you do depends on what jut kit to use. If you have upgraded the air filter and exhaust then you might need to run leaner which is why they say to install the smaller one. I used a dynojet for my bike and it ended up being smaller. Because i had done the kn and the scorpion pipe it put me into a stage three jet kit. Bike runs perfectly fine.

I did have the carbs synced at a shop though. You might want to do this after you install the jets. That way you are sure that its the right fuel air mixture.

If your jet kit recommends a smaller main its probably because they also provided you with a different needle ???
Most times the thinner (or differently tapered) needle fattens up the mid range so much that it is necessary to cut down on the main jet. Don't worry the people who made the kit have it all worked out (usually).

Nomad gave the correct answer.
Dynojet uses their own measuring system for their jets. Why?...So no one can ask someone what size jets dynojet uses for that machine and just buy the jets, bypassing dynojet.

You have to be able to read your spark plugs, if they are burning black then you would go down a size because black means rich condition. If the plugs are white then you are running to lean then you would need a larger jet.Provided that the bike is running correctly in the first place and has no oth hidden defects
