Buy a Jeep, they will go anywhere, they're more stable than the Mountaineer (handling). Get one with the 4.0L inline 6, don't get a V8. The mountaineers are terrible on gas, the Jeeps with the inline 6 get pretty descent mileage 22MPG or better. The Jeep will have a better resell value than that mountaineer ever will.

consider the Toyota highlander if you are using the SUV for on road use and the Toyota $ runner if you do any off roding the highlander is a uni body SUV that is good on road and will get decent gas mileage the 4 runner is a on frame SUV that will be better off rad and will get less gas mileage than the highlander.

Two months ago,I bouht a near new SUV from online police auction.It only cost me $730 and i have not had one problem with it yet .

Fored Escape. You'll want a smaller SUV because of gas..its only going to get worse.

Got a Loaded 07' toyota fj cruiser that i'll sell you for 28,500. 4K miles, 3 months old. added a bull bar in front and tubed side steps if your interested. paid 29,800 for it. great off road, in snow and daily driver. need a workhorse for construction purposes. oh, i am in northeast corner of illinois
