Why do people call the ground a floor? I wonder how they treat the floor inside their own home. The majority of the time I hear someone mix the two up, it's a minority saying it. Does it have something to do with culture or city based life?

I just don't really understand why people do it. Is it for decorations at a party? Is it a common craft for kids? Is it supposed to be a trick guys use at a bar to impress and "pick up" girls?

I don't get it. Why do people make paper flowers? If you've ever done it, what did you do it for?

she's a really sweet girl and i like her alot, but, at Thanksgiving she sat down at the table by herself before all of the food was ready and just started eating! i didn't say anything because i didn't want to embarrass her in front of the other guests, but i thought it was really rude. she's 20 yrs. old and was raised in a very disfunctional home, where table manners were not important, so maybe she just doesn't know any better, but, it's important to me, especially because i worked very hard to make everything really nice. should i say anything or just let it slide?

Okay, here's the thing: I'ma sophomore in college, and I don't drink, smoke, gamble, or have sex or any of that stuff. I don't care if other people want to do those things. That is everyone's own choice.

Anyways the other night my roommate was invited to go and play poker and drink beer and stuff, and he told his friends that I would go too before he even consulted me about it. I told him that I didn't want to go because I would have felt out of place, and then he told me that I was being stuck-up. He said that I was acting like I was "better than everyone else" because I didn't want to drink, which is NOT true. I don't CARE if he wants to drink and I don't look down on him for wanting to. I just prefer not to.

But now he seems to think that I'm trying to be some goody-two shoes guy who thinks he's better than everyone. How can I convince him that I DON'T think I'm better than him??

if you tell a fat person that "one cookie is enough" or "do you really think you should be eating that?" is considered rude?

I don't understand..if I don't want to eat donuts and cookies and all that gross food what business is it of yours? I don't care if you shove down another cupcake. So why care about me?

Sorry for ranting.. my office won't leave me alone for not eating all the crap at our office party.

That's what someone here on Y!A said. He said he's a cop. I figure if you have something so personal, then use somebody else's computer. How can someone use your property & have every RIGHT not to tell you the reason why. Plenty of times in my life, I've asked people for help & they demanded an answer for why.If it's that personal, then my brother should use someone else's computer, right? Isn't that cheeky & selfish? You depend on ME & the reason why is none of my business. & that cop said if he were on the scene, he'd take both of us to jail because we're crazy losers.

If it's so personal, suppose somebody else used my computer & hacked his info. Or what if he wanted to use my computer tro hack my info. & passwords? He may be my brother, but he says he doesn't trust me. Why am I wrong for distrusting him? He doesn't trust me because he commits or sets others up to commit crimes, & I'm the one who reports them so I won't be an accessory.

I can’t afford to spend much of anything for Christmas this year, and haven’t been for several years. We bought a house almost nine months ago, so most of our money is going to that and bills. I have read some of the questions on here about what to buy someone for Christmas if you can’t afford much, and some people say bake cookies, cakes, pies, or give a plant or make coupons for personal services. Those are all GREAT ideas but they won’t work with my family. My family is very judgemental and money driven. The name brand or price tag of something is what catches their attention. I can guarantee you if I baked a dozen cookies and gave them to my aunts, they would toss them in the garbage – guaranteed. My mom, brother and grandmother as well. I am not assuming this either. I know them. I have heard them talk about other people’s gifts.

Should you fold them up, take them off the bed and leave them, take them off the bed and put them in the laundry basket or remake the bed with your dirty sheets.

Or should you just ask your host what they prefer?

i want to register with Target but their return policy sucks. u can only return 2 items per year with no receipt and both items must be under $20.

Also, they always mess up on their gift registries: for example a guest will buya stroller but Target forghets to take it off the list. so come the next guests and they buy another/the same stroller.

in your suggestions, please don't say "dont' register with target", cause wallmart's and a few other stores are known to do this.

thanks!!

ps, i'm not throwing my own shower btw.

ps, yeah i don't know why guests DON'T or forghet to put in gift receipts, so I wanna remind them lol

I've been shunned at work for ratting on a lazy coworker. She has since got suspended for being verbally abusive with the boss. It is union shop, and she got her job back. Now, other coworkers are complaining about how hard it is to do all the work around her. Ooooooh really?

Now they come up to me and want me to listen as they complain????? NOT! I took action right or wrong, and they have nowhere to vent. What would you say or do?

I usually make Italian food for Christmas - chicken parm etc... She also says I shouldn't put any anti-pasta out (just POTATO CHIPS!!!) because everyone will be full and not eat. What should I do? Make the ham with everything else or not make anything else just the ham? Or some other suggestion?

I resently lost a noticeable amount of weight. Every time I attend a family gathering my reletives say out loud where everyone can hear, "You look great you've gotten skinny!" or something like that. I think it is rude because I don't like to talk about my weight in public. I don't want the focus to be on how much I weigh or what I look like in a dress. I don't like to have everyone looking at me! What should I do? Do you agree that it is rude? The worst part is they use the excuse that they are giving me compliments! I don't care if it's compliments I think it is a personal issue!

My s-in-law has been nothing but hateful to my family ever since my brother and she married three years ago. I really wish I could have good relationship with her but she makes things impossible. I babysit my niece (their daughter) for them 5 days a week (for next to nothing) after I get off work and get home, so you'd think she'd be civil to me when she comes to pick the baby up. She either does one of two things: Comes in my house and says nothing, picks up the baby and leaves. OR comes inside and makes some kind of nasty comment about toys being on the livingroom floor (I have two kids of my own as well). Among the many hateful things she says, she acts the worst to my mother, whom she completely disrespects by refusing to let her buy her granddaughter any type of toy or gift. We find out she takes them back to the store and gets the money for them. Surely my brother can't be blind to this, but he sure is acting like it. The rest of us are tired of her ugliness. Puzzled.

A few days ago, my friend and I went to the women-only swim session at out local pool, and we both went swimming topless. When we were finished and heading for the showers, one of the lifeguards came up to us and said that in future we shouldn't go topless, and the manager spoke to us afterwards and said the same thing.

Am I missing something here? Surely half the reason for having women-only swim sessions is so that women can swim topless, or in a thong bikini, or nude, or just in a normal swimsuit, or however they like and be comfortable with it since there are no men watching?

On special days like Christmas or my birthday, he never gives me presents because he believes that hugs and kisses and words are much more meaningful than presents are (I didn't ask him, but he said something like that in a conversation.)

I absolutely agree, but I think he’s lacking something that most men have – the knowledge that girls get excited and pleased when they receive a special gift from their loved one . . . whether it’s a flower or an accessory or even a little love note.

One day I asked my lover hesitantly why he doesn’t give me presents. I told him that I don't think it's so difficult. He said something like: “I hate it when people give me meaningless things that end up everywhere and take up so much space and end up becoming trash. It wastes my time.”

Is it fair that he doesn’t give me gifts for this reason?
