If so, how much?

@Angel22fya: I am a food server, so yes, I do get tipped, and sometimes extra at the holidays, so thanks for asking and for all your help.

Absolutely - if you can honestly afford it! It's the #1 most important employee in our lives. Also, they don't make anywhere near a teacher's salary - more like minimum wage. At least write a personal card thanking them or saying how much you appreciate the special job they do and how they give you a feeling of peace knowing your precious one is in good hands -- or something along those lines.

I have no kids (so have never used daycare facilities ) BUT I do know that they work very hard and are not paid very well, or at least, I believe that they should be paid much more. They deal with things on a daily basis that most of us would avoid like the plague.
Ask yourself, if I were in this job situation, WHAT would I really appreciate getting as a gift ( certificates are always liked) and then listen to your heart. A small kindness can go a very long way, not only at Christmas, but throughout the year.

I wouldn't give "money". Daycare workers undergo a lot of stress daily. I used to be a daycare teacher after I got out of high school. I babysitted 1-3 year old kids. I come home everyday with headaches. The best gift you can give a daycare teacher is something to help them relax. For example, make a gift basket full of lotions, bubble baths, potpourri, lavendar scented candles, soaps, chamomille tea, etc. Lavendar and chamomille are herbs to stimulate relaxation. Or you can give a gift certificate/gift card to a day spa where they can get pampered for a day.

I have my daughter in a daycare in the home, so she has been with the same lady since she was 6 weeks old (she's 2 now). I give her a card with 1 week's pay on Christmas.
To me, she has the most important job of anyone I know. She takes care of my precious little girl, which is more important to me than what anyone else does, and I reward her for it.

It would be a nice gesture... I would say what you are able to afford.. Some do a weeks salary, some do a moderate gift certificate. It is a gift from you so do what you are able to afford.. When my children were in daycare I would give the staff that directly dealt with my children each 50 dollars in a card cash money! God bless****

Not a tip, a small gift, what ever is in your price range. Something "from your son".
If you have bucks, and tip your "doorman" and your "Postal Carrier" then what ever you tip them would also be appropriate for your sons care giver.....
No less than a days pay and no more than a weeks probably would be a guideline.

If there are several people that care for your son, I'd stick to something in-expensive like Holiday Candy or a nice candle

Money is really not something you should give the workers as a gift - something small is always nice.....what you would normally buy a teacher. For example, a Starbucks gift card or a small box of chocolates is always nice.

Hell naw!!! Do you get tipped? Hey are getting paid for their services...Now if you really want to give them a tip, give them a nice gift from your son like a really nice coco set or some candy that's sold at your local stores.

Instead of a tip, I'd get her a bag of peanuts - it shows you put some thought into a gift and not gave her just money.
