I normally sent all my friends gift cards or cash 20-25 USD and a card Is this wrong? I have friends all around the worlds so with converstion its sometimes more sometimes less but it pretty much speand the same. I'm very busy with my job and dont aways have time to shop. plus shippisg very expensive when you send to as many people as i do, plus the friends outside the states are even more expensive to ship packages. so should i just sent a card or keep sending cash and a card?

I feel it is always thoughtful to actually take the time to pick out and choose a gift for people, and I would love to do that for my family who live in the continental US, but the reality is I have stared to pay as much on shipping as I spend on the gift. My sister and her family in Utah and my son in Florida will be getting gift cards, plus a small box of Hawaiian Goodies that they can't get where they are. I think you should make an effort to try and purchase gifts for close friends/family you see regularly, but for any one you would have to mail to, gift cards are just fine.

If you have a wholesale gift center (Pacific Market Center as known in Seattle WA) then i would go there. All you need is a businesss license or someone that has a busines license and tell them that you are shopping for that company. You are able to get really good quality gifts at a wholesale price. For instance, have you seen those glass Christmas bulbs that are hand blown to go on your tree? They are like $20 each right? Well at the gift center there $8 each. There is a minimum order of about $200 you have to purchase but if you buy for lots of people its a great way to go. So the $20-$25 to each person you send you could send a Christmas bulb and a card for the same amount. This really makes it more personable to your fiends. Hope this helps!

Cash is a bit impersonal. And the problem with it, is that not everyone can afford the same. So, by giving cash, your recipients feel like they should spend the same on you. But if you're just going to exchange the same amount of cash, then you may as well not send each other anything.
Parents often give their kids cash, which is fine because the kids want/need it & can buy what they like. My parents would not want me to give them cash back.
Maybe a gift certificate would be a step up from just plain cash.

They politically correct say it's impersonal, but screw them! Do what works for you. Your friends will appreciate the thought.
