This has been bothering me since it happened at my boyfriend's family's Christmas party on Christmas Eve.

My bf and I have been dating for almost 2 years and I know his family well. He has one aunt who is very annoying and extremely nosey (we'll call her Aunt P).

At the Christmas party, the cousins pass around an adorable family picture taken the day before. At this, someone gets the idea that the grandparents should have their picture taken with my bf's family. Since my bf and I are only dating, I decided to stay seated while they were all getting situated for their picture (I'm not in the family yet, lol!). My bf's stepmother and his SIL thought I should be included. I protested, but they insisted (as did my bf). We took a few pictures and afterwards, not to my surprise, Aunt P looked at my bf and said "Oh, [bf's name], you didn't tell me y'all were engaged! Have you set a date yet?" loud enough for the entire family to hear. She knew perfectly well that we aren't engaged and simply wanted to show her disapproval of me being in the family picture. This may have been bad on my part, but I shot her my infamous “look” (as my mother calls it), held up my left hand, and said “Do you see something I don’t?!?”. She didn’t say anything else.

Looking back, I probably could’ve handled this better. What would you have done?

going to get so hammered tonight that you do karaoke even if you can't sing properly but think you can, pole dance cheesely, spill your beverage over others, shout obscenities, forget where you are, loose most neural function, fall down and throw up and then loose all conciousness completely, just for fun?
Or do you have a couple and go home early with a headache?
(Like I do)

My cousins wedding was at the end of October and I forgot to bring my gift which is a check. I had the money at the time, and was going to send it when I got home, but I forgot for a few weeks and then things came up and didn't really have the money in my account.
Well now I want to send it,over two months later, and I don't know if I should say anything on the card explaining myself.. Or just say sorry for it being so late.. or nothing.
I know that you technically have up to a year to send a gift, but I feel bad.

Raised my ex-wifes daughter from the time she was born till she was almost 3. Still see her once or twice a year. Sometimes she calls me by my name sometimes by Dad. Went to her graduation party 2 summers ago. Went to her wedding last summer. Those were the 2 times I met her husband. Shes stopping over tonight. I have two Christmas cards for her, one for daughter, and one for daughter and "son". Which should I give her? Don't know him to call him "son", but think it might be rude to exclude him. What to do?

do you hit on women in public places (like shops, supermarkets, malls etc.) asking for a date or just sex? Or do you know any of your friends who do that?

Doesn't it feel awkward to do that? I mean like isn't it immoral to do something like that to a stranger in a public place? If the woman complained to the police, you could get arrested - right?

I'm at work and my boss is gone, a lot of people are gone, everthing is dead and I have no clients to call b/c they are all off for the day so I'm just sitting here, can't really do anything. But I don't want to just ask my boss if we get to leave early, since I've already had to take some days off recently. How do I find out if I get to leave early today without looking bad? Should I just wait for my boss to call and let me go from his home? I don't want to stay here until 5 and then find out I didn't have to....grrr!

this weekend my stepdaughter was in town from tenn. so we arranged to have a bbq so everyone could see her before she left again. the bbq was scheduled for 330pm. some people came on time but a group of people including my mother in law, sister in law (whose child had been at my house for almost two days without hearing a word from her or being able to get in touch with her), her significant other and their friend who i have never laid eyes on, came strolling in my house after nine oclock! meanwhile, im trying to get my two year old in the bed while 3 other kids bounce around and adults talk as loud as they please. they could have called and said we are swinging by later and that would have been fine but we heard nothing all day long. when they finally did come they didnt visit with my stepdaughter at all which was really the main reason for the gathering. i though this was so inconsiderate! was i being too uptight or was this rude?!

My best friend is 57, her daughter is 37, so neither is a child, but I can't believe the way the daughter treats her mother. She is rude, demanding, into all of her business and when she doesn't do exactly as she wants will scream and cuss at her til she makes her cry.
The first time it happened I was in shock and didn't do anything, the second time, I took the mother's cell phone away from her because she was driving and hung up on the daughter and wouldn't give it back to her til we got home.
The daughter has been rude to me, but I've tried killing her with kindness and insulting her back at the same time, but she's thick and never thinks you're putting her down.
I've talked to the mother over and over that this isn't right and that she needs to grow a back bone and tell her daughter off once and for all. Both she and her 3rd hubby are scared to death of her and do anything she asks.
What's wrong with this picture? Or is it me that's wrong? I was brought up to respect my elders.

Of course, we are the fairer sex, and society tells us we have to act waif-like and dainty. But let's face it; we are just like guys; but in secret. We never admit this, but effectively, we on YA are anonymous. Have you ever been secretly (or indeed publically) proud when:

* You did a really smelly fart (*sniffs it*, "vintage!")
* You found a really HUGE booger up your nose
* You picked a mega scab from your knee
* You did a wee that lasted as long as the lunar landing
* You did a really big pooh and it stayed in one piece at the bottom of the toilet (my personal favourite)
* You did a huge belching burp after downing a can of soda
* You drank a friend 'under the table'

Come on; you know you are...

We have a 'new' family member who keeps sending cards & gifts for appropriate occasions, but she always signs them as from her spouse's name & her name. . .never by his relation. This is on my last nerve. Everyone thinks I am over-reacting about the situation and think I should just be 'grateful' they are sending cards.

Am I over-reacting? How to deal with it to them as when I broached the subject with both my spouse, and the relative that is her spouse I was blown off. I just get so irked because my children are not to call this person by name but title.

Thanks!
