I would like your opinions on a situation that has arisen at work.

We 'house' a company which means we run their business out of ours. We do everything from running their office, bookkeeping, payroll, take/make phone calls on their behalf, pay bills etc.

So at Christmas time they had their office party at our office.

A new employee of ours started the day out with an extremely condescending attitude. She made it look as if she ran our company. She began to drink then started in on a co-worker, being extremely rude, and obnoxious. She later ended up getting into with one of the employees of the company which we house. She pushed him, spilled his drink, he then fell to the ground and she jumped him. Apparently there was another episode out back.

Yes alcohol and conflicting attitudes do not mix. The fact is that employees should treat clients and their employees with respect. Resorting to physical violence should not be tolerated (MY opinion only!)

The whole thing could have been dealt with in a more professional manner BEFORE things got out of hand, but was ignored by the owner.

There are 4 employees at our office besides the drunken, violent chick, we had all left earlier because we could see something like this happening and didn't want to be involved.

The owner feels sorry for the girl and is making alcohol and her family life her excuse. He's accepting it. She now feels bad and wants to quit but the boss is trying to kiss her a$$ so she stays.

My personal feeling is the whole situation disgusts me to no end. I am embarrassed to be associated with the company and this employee. If this girl remains with the company we are asked to not 'razz' her and be nice.

What are your thoughts please??

I work as a receptionist and the front door to my office has a button for disabled people to push to make the door open automatically.

I can totally understand when people who have children in tow or delivery people use this button, but it really grinds my nerves when people who obviously have nothing wrong with them use this button to get in and out of the building. It's almost as annoying as when I see perfectly able-bodied people parking in handicapped parking spots! (The nice lady who picks up our mail everyday uses this button to get in everyday and I want to scream at her everytime! She's the inspiration for this question).

Does this bother anyone else?

my husband and my anniversary is coming up and i would like to turn the apartment into an Italian restaurant for when he comes home for work. SO far the only ideas i have came up with is a red and white checkered table cloth along with some Italian music playing in the back round. i prefer all the songs on the burned cd to have that Italian sound with no words but the first song i want to be billy joels song scenes from an Italian restaurant. Does anybody have any ideas on how to decorate that wont cost so much since its only 1 night or any other ideas....i really need help trying to find these songs with no words though-

Sometimes when in public with my little sister or other children I may be taking care of, some people will assume they are my children. I find this riduculous becuase I'm 20 years old! How could I possibly have as many children I they think I do. I once took my two cousins and little sister to breakfast and the waitress called me "mom", I was 17 at the time and the three of them were about 9! Same thing happened at work, someone ask me how mykids were doing... huh?!
simply why do people assume (i could look maybe 23 tops) and what should I say in response besides THEIR NOT MINE!

whatever it is- do you like to open them immediately, or be patient and wait to the day?

To attend a Birthday party.
Gifts are mandatory. Or, if one would prefer to give money, they must give it to a Charity of the Birthday persons choice AND in the Birthday persons name.........

I find that as being rather crass.
And an invitation that I will bypass.

Is this the newest fad for an adult birthday party?

i think its rude to the people who don't have someone to love because they might feel really jelious and they want someone to hold and kiss in times when they need it so i think its really rude because people will feel like no one pays attention to them or loves them(they might feel like people think their ugly)

My mother-in-law stated that I didn't come down often enough when we went to visit her. In my defense it was a 14 hr drive and after saying hello to everyone I went straight to sleep for about 12 hrs. When I finally did wake up and go downstairs no one was really around anyways, if there was someone there no one was doing anything or paying any attention to us because some other friends had stopped by. Was it so wrong that I stayed for a while and then went back upstairs?

Not only is she my attorney, the family used to be neighbors of mine where I used to live. The whole family is in the legal business, so they are not wanting for money. The viewing hours are tomorrow. Is it acceptable just to go to the wake to express my condolences without having to go to the funeral?

Late 2006, i was ill off school and opened the post. It said that my dad had bet £600 and lost £400. I was shocked. [£600 is around $1200]. anyway he promised he wouldn't do it again. he stopped statements coming to the house but he used to sneak in my room and use my phone to make a few sneaky bets. i talked to my counsellor and she had a word with my dad and said she will happily give him helplines if he needs help. my dad refused and started badmouthing her behind her back. i thought about running away or even killing myself because i can't take it that he is wasting money away. i am 14 yrs old. my dad had recently been telling me that he had only been bettin £50 [$100] or something small like that ad i believed him but i looked through his phone and it showed he had been betting £400 [$800], £900 [$1800] and LOST. HE claims they were not recent but they were because the texts were sent after we had been to a concert in november. i cant trust him anymore and feel really bad. help

not that i'm saying i get alot, but my initial reaction is to tell people that 'oh no, i'm not pretty" or to quickly change the subject. i KNOW that i'm not handling these well, but i've never figured out the right way to take a compliment. i've tried just saying thank you, but it always sounds forced.

I have read some posts on here where individuals believe it is rude to request money for a funeral. I did not learn of the practice of giving the gift of money until my grandmother had passed away, and I cannot tell you how much the funds assisted with paying for everything involved to properly lay her to rest; as she did not have insurance.

My question is, how do I politiely and properly request individuals give money? I have a friend who just lost her son on Christmas Day. He was sick for many years (and un-insurable), they do not have much money and are talking about taking out a home equity loan to try and pay for a proper funeral. They do have two other children to think of as well and I'd like to do whatever I can to ensure those who wish to pay their respects do so with a donation to the family instead of flowers. PLEASE HELP!

I am usually at a loss as to what to cook for dinner each day, so my husband and I end up eating out a lot. It's just the two of us and it's hard to cook for two people. Most recipes call for 4-6 servings, but I am not a leftovers person so a lot of food goes to waste. My husband loves leftovers but even he gets tired of eating the same thing.

We get into arguments about what we are going to have for dinner, who's going to cook it, or where we will eat out at. It's just too expensive to eat out and it's making us gain weight. My husband doesn't care for most vegetables (except corn), whereas I love green leafy vegetables. He is a meat and potatoes guy and I love seafood and vegetables.

I really want to get my household in order this upcoming year, and this is one of the things on my list. Would it be out of order to come up with a set menu and stick by that? 10 points to the person with the best answer.

We've all seen these questions where someone explains in great detail how much of a sorry person they are, and you naturally want to repsond with "what were you thinking??" and then receive a violation notice. Not only you, but most of the responders get reported. Do you appreciate people like this?

I don't have a MySpace account but I want invited to check out our neighbor's latest Christmas pictures so I decided to see if there was anyone I knew on there. Since my neice (15) said she had a MySpace last summer I looked her up and was shocked to see her in a provocative picture with a friend, and she's only wearing her bra and panties. Should I forward the picture to my sister (her mother)? If it were my daughter, I'd want to talk to her about how that picture might not be something she wants to whole world to see. She probably thinks only her friends view it, but I live several states away and I found it in seconds. A future college or employer could do the same. Advice? Keep my mouth shut? Tell my sister? Call my neice and say 'nice bra'?

If you heard two people talking about you in your presence, what would you do? Well, they were not really aware that I could understand them, however I could. I live in a foreign country and look obviously foreign in this so-called mono-nation. So, I was almost in the same room with those people when they began talking about me. Even though they probably didn't say anything bad, it just pissed me off. I told them I could understand they were talking about but I'm still angry! What should I do? What would you have done if it happened to you?

So I've been on sick leave for minor surgery since Dec 12. I've had some complications and my leave was extended to Jan 3. My boss is on vacation so I called my coworker to let her know. She went off on me saying she has things to do and I need to come back to work. I explained the doc had put me on total bedrest and she started asking a million questions and saying she wasn't going to cover for me anymore. This same woman has not worked a 40 hour week since I got there 2 years ago. She skips out early every Friday and takes 2-3 hour lunches when the boss is gone. Example: Halloween she left at lunch because she had to go buy candy. She's been out to take her 28 year old son to the eye doctor. For 2 years she has left me to die at work and now she's mad because I'm out sick. Why would she be this way? She has to cover for me but it just upset me that she acted that way. I dread going back and having to work with her in our small office. What can I do?

Someone posted a question here a few days ago about being uninvited to someone's home for Christmas. I was also invited to a friend's house. Although the invitation wasn't reneged, I felt like an outsider invading the homeland. I was informed they would be eating at noon. I arrived about 11:45 AM with a casserole to share. My friend was still in her nightgown. She said I should go and sit in the living room, then I was totally ignored for the next 2 hours. They didn't eat until after 2 PM. Nobody sampled any of my casserole as it was cold by then. After the meal, I handed out gifts. They opened them, said blandly "Thank you" then expressed no further interest in them. Then my friend went in the living room and fell asleep in the recliner. Her son slept on the sofa. Her husband sat in the kitchen and her daughter decided she wanted to watch TV. Nobody talked to me. When I tried to talk, I was shushed. I left around 5 PM with my casserole and no reciprocal gifts. I felt a little put off.

So i hanged up and threw away my cupcake.
