My friend tries to cook. She is sweet. But, she has no cooking skills. We've hinted at trying to tell her but she doesn't get the hint AT ALL. So today for lunch she had some of us over and I'm serious we were literally gagging down the food. None of us finished our food and we all just kind of snuck it into the trash. How do we deal with this?

I'm 18 years old and I'm thinking of getting a mohawk. I've been growing my hair for 6 years and I want to cut it, but a regular haircut would be boring, so I thought of getting a mohawk. I don't plan on spiking it, I just want to keep it natural; and if I need to look formal, I have no problem with gelling it and brushing it back.

Would employers have a problem if I did my hair like this?

Oh, and I've never had a job before- I have filled out many applications, but have only had 2 interviews. I think it is because I do not have any previous work experience, so I plan on working on my college campus for the first quarter so that I have an occupational reference and then apply at a bank as a teller.

Thanks.

I am usually good with this sort of thing. I would usually use some version of what I would want to hear myself if I were in the other's shoe's, in this case I am at a loss, I was taken completely by surprise.

In our marching band, we have two people in the mellophone section, me and one other guy. I'm the section leader, but I'm a sophomore and the other guy's a junior. This junior is a bit pushy and tends to comment on other people in other sections. Lately, this is starting to get annoying and unconstructive.
Me being a section leader, I technically have authority over him, but since he's a junior, he has been in the band program longer and knows more than I do. I've tried telling him he needs to back off from commenting, but he says he's doing it for "the good of the whole band." Several other people have told me he's getting really annoying. What should I do so I can get my point across, but not be really rude?

I am a single mom and have had a few things to 'mention' to him as he lives above me. But he is simpely an amazing landlord (and I have had bad ones). I want him to know that despite my complaints recently, I think he is an excellent landlord. He just bought this place 3 months ago and moved upstairs. I have had a few complaints for him but nothing that i consider huge (I would rather say if something is bugging me than getting angry about it and being passive agressively upset.. so if something bugs me, I just say it to the appropriate person). I want a gesture that will not come across like flirting as we are both single (which I would NOT be flirting anyway with my landlord). And I don't want to wait for Christmas. Any ideas?

Some one put a pic of some one I know online & was calling him all sorts of low life words, also this person put my full name on line & what I do for a living, & was bashing both myself & my job. Is this allowed ? I mean really has no one ever heard of ( defamation of character ) ?

Is it common for the less-educated siblings or cousins to attempt to explicitly and publicly make the one-minute ill-fated and rather unimpressive attempt at erroneously proving to you that they are smarter than you - therefore better than you? It seems they try to justify their pathetic existence by convincing themselves that they too posses knowledge but did not have to spend years or money acquiring same.

Those who have no education, please, go back into your rather simple world.

Thank you.

(P.S. I am and always have been a politically correct sensitive folk who respects the "other side".. Just that they have crossed certain lines lately and I AM looking for revenge.)

I hear that in New York no one talks to each other on the subway, and that in this way the city with the most people can be the loneliest place. I find myself in a bus pretty often, writhing in in silence for half an hour to an hour or so. Everyone else just looks at their hands or out the window so it's pretty difficult to even establish any eye contact. Do everyone alienate themselves on purpose? Time passes slowly on a bus, and it'd be nice if I could make good human use of that time to connect with someone, if only for that moment.

K so it was time for lunch and the class was about to go to the luchroom whille I still had to get my money out of my backback. I got my money but my wallet fell out of the backpack and fell on the bottom of the locker floor but the class had already left so i just left it there and ran after them ( thought i just put it back after.

( Our lockers dont have any locks on them and are basically just cabnet spaces with a gliding door. And we have a locker buddy )

And when we got back from lunch I totally forgot about my wallet and didnt realize it untill the next day and guess what.... It wasnt there along with my $50 .

I know it was my locker buddy ( i hate him, teacher paired us together ) he is very poor and nobody likes him he is EXREMELY WEIRD . And never talks to anyone and always looks at everyone like hes gona kill you lol .

What should I do ?

I got an invitation for a destination wedding. Even though the wedding is in 2 months, the postmark on the envelope was sent 8 days before the coulple wanted the RSVP card sent back to them. I got it in the mail 1 day after they wanted it back.
I had no choice but to decline because that was not enough time for me to make travel plans. So, I called the bride to RSVP because I actually got the invitation AFTER the requested date.
Today the bride called to complain that I hadn't sent the return card back! WHAT?!
Please, tell me what is the proper amount of time to expect a return RSVP for a destination wedding. Did I do the wrong thing?

1. Saves all the time on housework (I still have to worry about my 7 AM office deadline)
2. Saves quite a lot of money amidst skyrocketing prices
3. Allows you to keep your obnoxious wife in check (she'll constantly have to feel jealous about a slave-woman at home)

I'm not arguing the racial/ethical dimensions just thoughts if it were legal today I would surely go for one. I would be also in favor of legislation that would allow slaves to change their owner in lieu of abuse/exploitation and not get away with crimes such as rape/murder etc.

Slavery could be used to benefit all the homeless, unemployed and good-for-nothings to become more valuabe members of society and wouldn't carry as much of a degraded status.

They would be just like other workers with same legal rights except for earning money from their labour.

This person is a colleague of mine and I can't just avoid her. But every time I'm around her, she makes jokes about my physical appearance, criticizes everything I do, insults me at every turn, and orders me around like I am her slave. I have asked her repeatedly to stop and she just laughs and does nothing. Ignoring her doesn't work either. I can't tell the boss because they are best buds. I don't want to quit work because I need the money. What can I do?

(a) Ignore him completely because the person is rude and inconsiderate

(b) Shout back at the person

(c) Think carefully about the reason why s/he is shouting at you

I bought my house 6 months ago. The old owner and the old tenants (it is a double) still comes over after 6 months to pick up their mail. Let me explain that these people had like 15 people living in this double, so you can imagine the mail that is collected. For the first few months I would just put all their mail in a big shopping bag and leave it on the porch. They would come over and sort through it and take what was theirs.

Well it is 6 months later and I just put their mail in the recycling trash bin. I refuse to sort through, collect, and store their mail. They are still coming over for it. I told them that I do not have it, that i just throw it away. They of course are upset.

I mean really how long is one suppose to keep ex-owners/ex-tenants mail?

My family is bugging me because I never tuck my shirt in. I just don't find it comfortable and also don't do it at work.

Is this really necessary?

Quite frankly, I am having a hard time seeing a reason to do these things. Women never seem to appreciate having a door opened for them or a guy doing anything nice for them. They usually just shrug it off and then proceed to lump me in the same category with the a$$hole men (who never seem to be lacking female attention).

So am I justified in these feelings, or am I just feeling crabby and disgruntled for no real reason?

For years my family told me I needed to shut up and mind my own business-in no less words.

So I did and now they learn at me for not speaking up! For example, they take a wrong turn; I stay quiet. They yell at me and all I can say is, "well, I figured this was the way you wanted to go. I can't stop you." Or they take out a tampon instead of something else and I don't say a word because they hated me mentioning such things in public but they're horrified later when they learn what happened. So they get irritated.

Basically, I want to go back to what I was doing before. Any suggestions at breaking this habit?
