After the first time that my boyfriend's parents took me to dinner, I wrote a thank you note. It was just a short handwritten note, nothing real elaborate. Do you think this was too much? As soon as I sent it, I started second guessing myself, thinking they might think that I am sucking up some how, but I think it was appropriate after the first dinner. Thoughts??

We all know how uncomfortable it is to buy some of the most personal items at the store. Would you spend the time and make the effort to buy online if the prices were comparable to your local store and you could receive your order within a couple of days?

I went on to a trip with my academic bowl team, and we parked our car in a public parking garage. When were done and exiting the parking complex, the cashier said she only takes cash. None of the other members had cash, so I gave the driver nine dollars. He promised me to pay me back. Then a week later, when I mentioned it to him, he said he'll pay me back, then a week later, he still said he'll pay me back.

Then today I asked him again, he said the team already have trouble getting big amounts back, so my $9 will have to wait, and I may have the chance of never getting it back. (and worst of all, a very obnoxious guy on the side said "you are screwed")

I took some law classes before, and I know if it's like a large amount, I can always sue them, but $9 is not worth it going to court. I know it's not alot, but I'm not rich, and my family needs money right now, (and I'm in school) so I need to be careful with my money and I do not dare to waste a penny.

What should I do?

It is so annoying. In essence, it is apologizing for a crappy answer. You should not answer unless you know it helps. Otherwise don't waste people's time. Any comments?

I had to blow up balloons for a party and I kept popping them. My girlfriend was getting mad at me. I want them to be as full as possible and I always think one more breath and then I will stop, but then BOOM!

How do you know when they are as full as they will get? Does anyone else like to blow them up too big?

How does the garbage man just not think "Oh, he forgot to put trash in here?"

Do you just put it in a bigger can?

I see this happen a LOT. I see people get on the bus and take the aisle seat while the seat next to the window remains empty. The bus gets so crowded people are standing up, sometimes elderly people, or parents holding on to small children, ect. Is it just me, or is this rude? Why can't people just move over? Also, I've noticed the people who do this, will also be "saving" the seat until one of their friends comes on the bus and then they'll move for them. Does anyone else think this is rude?

I've noticed that online, people can be extremely mean, malicious and rude, saying things that you would never hear anyone say in person. Why is this? Is it because they feel braver when people can't see their face? I mean, even on here, people ask honest, genuine questions, (which, sometimes, may be a little stupid, but still) and they get these awful responses. Am I the only one who notices this?

Being European, I have been told by my Catholic parents, that alcohol is not to be served at my son's first communion lunch/dinner in May. I have googled communion etiquette, but have not found any particular "guide lines". Anyone?

I've been asked to be matron of honor for a close friend. The friend and her fiance have lived together for 15 years and are just now getting married in August of this year. They recently brought a new house but have most everything they need since they came from an apartment setting. Do I still need to give a bridal shower or would it be in bad taste? Or is it up to the bride to decide if she wants one?

Let's say you accidentally bumped into their car, there is some damage but it is minimal. But if you told them then it would report negatively against insurance and your rates would go up. Would you just leave?

(No this did not happen to me...:) )

I noticed that friends and associates often ask me and other people to walk with them to the corner store, supermarket, etc. I do all of these things by myself, as I prefer to shop alone. Are people that afraid to go places by themselves? I never ask anyone to walk with me anywhere. If I happen to be going somewhere and a friend asks me where I'm going, after I tell them, they will sometimes say, Oh, well I'll walk with you. I mean I don't mind but, I don't feel as though I need anybody to walk me anywhere. Some people that I know will not even go to the corner store alone. What's the deal?

My problem is a family friend keeps bossing my family around whenever he comes over. You see my Grandmother just had a stroke so, he is over to help us. It is nice for him to come help however, he keeps telling me what to do. For example my brother and I get in an argument and he buds in. Personally, it is not any of his business. He also tells us what to do. Another example he asks me where I'm going I tell him I'm going out and he says ''no you should stay here''. My problem is he is not part of the family just a family friend. What is a polite thing to say to him so, he can stop stating his opinions and bossing my family particularly my brother and I around so much? In addtion I'm 21 years old and my brother is twelve years old.

I am constantly asked by people in public situations when I am going to graduate from school. I am 25 years old and graduated from high school in 2000 and college in 2004. People constantly insult me with "Oh, you barely look 16" or "You look to young to be out of school". They never take me seriously because of how "young" I look. It's annoying, I know everyone says "Just wait til you're 30, 40 or 50 and you'll be glad you look young" but that's not helping. I want to have something to say to let these people know that their comments aren't compliments and they aren't appreciated. What is an appropriate, (or even inappropriate) response to make to these people?
