I recently began my graduate studies in a department at my university. There are about seven other students in the department and about nine professors, and every morning they ALL say "good morning" as I see each one of them. I know it is rude of me, but this really annoys me to the point of anger. Is there any way I can give a clue that I am not into the whole "good morning" thing without being rude?

If you meet someone and you can't tell whether they're male or female, they dress androgynously, and have an androgynous name, how do you go about finding out without being rude? What do you look for? What questions can you ask so they won't catch on that you can't tell what their gender is?

My favorite cousin's daughter is having a birthday this weekend, I cannot attend because I live 6 hrs away and it's on a Sunday (my cousin knows this) so she did not send me an invite. However I know it's her birthday she has been talking to me about the party but I think she simply opted to save herself a stamp and an invite since she knows I can't come, now should I mail a card with a gift card for her anyways or not since I wasn't technically invited. I am 26 my cousin is 28 and were pretty close.

Our office celebrates each employee's birthday by going to lunch and the company pays for the birthday boy/girl. We have a Johovah's Witness in our office. How should we handle it? Since they do not celebrate birthdays, should we not bring it up?

Does that mean that I should say something back or hit that person back or ignore them or report the situation? When I don't do anything about the verbal or physical abuse or if I report it, people call me stupid & say I sat there & LET them hurt me. But then when I defend myself, I'm wrong for retaliation & suffer worse consequences than the person who cursed me out or hit me first. Some people encourage me to hit that person back, but I know it's wrong to hit back.

People are always "teaching" me things that I am certain, from education and personal experience, aren't true at all. They say it's "known facts," and "common knowledge." Yeah, sure, and it's "common knowledge" and a "known fact" that there are white aligators in the NY sewers! I don't want to just say, "No, I learned that the opposite is true from ten different professors," but I don't want to just be treated like an idiot either. Note I'm talking about REAL facts, not opinions. We're practically talkin' 2+3=7 here!

I am getting married in about 6 weeks, and the invitations just went out. My fiance brought up the topic of people who don't RSVP. Now, I don't expect this to happen, and I haven't heard of people doing this very often, but I suppose it could happen. Anyway, I'm taking the approach of "if it happens, it happens. We deal with it." My fiance, on the other hand, is a bit uptight about the whole wedding planning, and is saying that if people show up without having sent an RSVP, then they shouldn't eat. We're paying a certain amount of money per person, and we're going by the RSVP list when we work with our caterer. Now, I see his point - that they are rude by showing up without sending an RSVP, but I feel that it's more rude to have people sitting at my wedding without eating. Is there some sort of etiquette as to what we would do in this situation? I would never want to make someone uncomfortable at my wedding, buy my fiance is being very opinionated about this! What's the right answer?

I like to keep people wondering or just leave 'em with something to ponder sometimes. I'll bet the guy I yelled at earlier is gonna wonder all day, "why did that silly cracka yell, 'implementation' at me when he drove by?" Hey maybe it'll cause 'em to open a dictionary or learn a thing or two!!!

My friend is being treated badly at work because she is smart, responsible and well liked by others. Her supervisor judges her heavily on appearances. She does not have tatoos, mohawks and or orange hair. He wants to say she's got bad habits when he is the one who doesn't show up for appointments, etc.

My friend should file a compliant for sexual harrassment.

Yesterday at my psychiatric day treatment program, a lady was snapping her gum really loud, & I asked her politely to stop, & she got ignorant with me & made a big scene & started threatening me. So later she started doing it again, on purpose, just to provoke me to want to fight her, but instead, I told the staff, & the staff blamed me, like I was the problem. I was so upset that I had to take a Klonopin & talk to my friend & the Crisis Hotline about it, & I STILL couldn't get any sleep last night, thinking about the heated argument.

I live in a shared apartment, & the rules are NO pets. Why does my landlord allow my roommate to have 2 cats but she won't let me have any cats? I love cats, & they help me relieve my depression & stress. The cat that I had, I lost her in Hurricane Katrina, so I'm DYING for another cat, & my roommate is selfish with her cats & she won't let them out of her room.

Also, the landlord makes it a rule of the apartment that we MUST attend a psychiatric day treatment program. Why is it that my other 2 roommates don't have to go, but I'm the only one mandated to go-but it's supposed to be a GENERAL rule for EVERYBODY?

That's not fair. I HATE favoritism. I know I should mind my own business & worry about myself, but if you have rules, apply them to ALL of your tenants, not just some.

The other night, my roommate told me that I need to clean off the whole entire toilet seat (top & bottom) every time I use the bathroom. She has her nerve because she thinks she's too cute to have to clean up behind herself. She leaves dirty pots & pans lying around for nights, tracking roaches & mice, & one day she left her dirty panties hanging over the shower curtain rods, & they fell on me while I was taking a shower, & she has NERVE to call me unsanitary. She doesn't pick on the other roommate about cleaning off the toilet after using it. Why does she choose me to pick on?

1) What are popular spices in China?
2) Are there any rules abou where to sit at a table when eating?
If there are, what are they.
3) How do you pass foods at a table when eating?
4) How do you behave at a banquet?

If you can only answer one question, that's ok. :)

I'm trying to have a nice quiet meal with my family and all of a sudden some kid my daughter's age decides to start shreeking and screaming and the parents do nothing to get them to be quiet.

It's like nails on a chalk board.

I realize that there are rude people on YA everyday, but today has been pretty bad. For instance, I asked a question on how I could collect child support, and everyone started calling me a "deadbeat" and berating me for not supporting my kids! I thought my question made it very clear that I was the one collecting. Anyway, just wanted to know if anyone noticed the "extra-rudeness" today.
