I live in a shared apartment, & the rules are NO pets. Why does my landlord allow my roommate to have 2 cats but she won't let me have any cats? I love cats, & they help me relieve my depression & stress. The cat that I had, I lost her in Hurricane Katrina, so I'm DYING for another cat, & my roommate is selfish with her cats & she won't let them out of her room.

Also, the landlord makes it a rule of the apartment that we MUST attend a psychiatric day treatment program. Why is it that my other 2 roommates don't have to go, but I'm the only one mandated to go-but it's supposed to be a GENERAL rule for EVERYBODY?

That's not fair. I HATE favoritism. I know I should mind my own business & worry about myself, but if you have rules, apply them to ALL of your tenants, not just some.

First - I want to see that contract you signed that says ALL TENANTS must attend that program AND NO PETS! Then after having it in WRITING - I would take my roommate with me along with my lawyer and meet up with the Landlord and have HIM explain himself!! That isn't LEGALLY right! I'd fight it. Don't take it! Everybody fights about the stupidest things - but this is about fairness and well being - I'd fight it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's truly not an apartment lovely enough not to move away from. Find another place with rooms for rent, and tell your landlord to knock off the preferences or you're out of there!

PS: If you're still living in Mississippi or Louisiana, my aunt runs some apartments in an old restored mansion in New Orleans. She loves cats, and I'm sure she'll let you have at least one! Also, she's not that much of a crock!

A landlord cannot mandate that you have psychiatric treatment.

As for pets--if the rules are that no one can have pets, you should call her out on the fact that your roommates have them.

i'm on the incorrect end of favoritism (no longer being favourite sufficient) so yeah. I do in simple terms not see the point of raising someone understanding you're hurting the different interior the approach.

i also hate being in groups because you can't feel pressure people to do there work, and that makes you the bad guy.
society demands so much!
