I realize that there are rude people on YA everyday, but today has been pretty bad. For instance, I asked a question on how I could collect child support, and everyone started calling me a "deadbeat" and berating me for not supporting my kids! I thought my question made it very clear that I was the one collecting. Anyway, just wanted to know if anyone noticed the "extra-rudeness" today.

There are always rude people on YA. Some days do seem worse than others but probably more so in certain sections, like Politics & Government. Stick to Polls & Surveys. It gets silly at the worst, but hardly ever rude.

I don't know if today is worse than other days, but generally people are more rude online because they feel they can get away with it. Lots of people who wouldn't dare being so rude in person will be rude when they can post and no one knows who they are and where they live.

It's Friday and people need to vent after the work week. Don't take it too personally, just pity them and move on.

There's a cycle, it's really strange, but you find different grooves in different categories. And yes, I noticed.
