one time this white girl i know was saying how jealous she was that i was hispanic n she wasnt. she was like, "i wish i wasnt white! ur so lucky! i wish i was dark n spanish!" i was like, "yeah..." wat would be the proper way to respond to that?

Dude, it's a compliment. She's trying to hit on you. Stop being defensive and thinking everything is racist. There's plenty of that going around already. You should take it as a compliment and return the favor... something like "Nah, you're fine just how you are". If you like the girl, you could even turn it into a cheesy pickup line... "What, you don't have any Mexican in you?"..."No, I don't"... "You want some?"

You know I've never thought of the other side. I'm sorry. I am white and would LOVE to have hispanic dark eyes, hair and skin. But I don't mean to put the person in the center - it is a complete compliment. They are beautiful people with a beautiful language. How about with comic relief and answer - "Thanks. I got an appt. with God next week - I'll see what I can do." Good Luck!

She was probably just trying to compliment your exotic looks, but it came out... wrong. If I were you I would have simply asked, "Oh really, why is that?" just to allow her the opportunity to clarify what she meant.

I would probably say "umm....why?" No, I would really want to know why she doesn't want to be white. I would also probably tell her that she should be proud of who she is and where she came from (lineage). Everyone should be proud of who they are.
