Wear your ipod or some other headphones in the mornings. That way you can ignore them without being rude because they'll assume you didn't hear them because you're listening to music. Eventually they'll probabaly give up.

I think you have to fight fire with fire. Tell them the truth. Tell them, "It is?? Really?? Did you know there is a 40% chance of rain? Don't you realize there are children starving in Africa? Are you aware of all the death and destruction in Iraq that is occurring on a daily basis?? What are you stupid?? Open your eyes you freaking idiots!!! For God's sake, you're all highly educated!! Are you that booksmart that you can not clearly see this world is a freaked up mess??? Look, I'm not into this fakey fakey good morning bullshit. I'm just a meathead lookin to further my studies!!! GO TO HELL!!" That ought to grab some attention. Not only will they stop saying "Good morning", they will never talk to you again!!! Smooth move Exlax!! Your only other alternative is to lay off the early morning coffee, lean back, smile and wish them a good morning as well.

I always make a point to say 'morning' only; good morning is an oxymoron. Or sometimes I'll just say as much, "Morning yes, good no, afternoons & evenings can be good but mornings are just mornings for me."
Many people understand although it's also often such a habit that they won't change it....

Dude, come on. Grow a pair, and stop complaining about things that should never make you angry. Just say "Good Morning" back, and continue on with your day. Be glad they care to say it, it's just a friendly greeting. I can think of a lot worse things to be said than "Good Morning".

Good mornings are a good way of starting off the day with a clean and happy slate. Don't try to get out of it. When you meet someone, you say hi. It's our way of making socialising pleasant.

Ear buds...
but seriously....
Keep it up and pretty soon they'll be saying things as you pass by that really should make you angry.....
You could just smile and say Hi or whatever greeting it is they use on your planet....

You are putting anger where none should exist. Saving your anger for something that really deserves it might serve you better. However, you could say "okay." Or you could just smile. Or you could say "really?" Or "it is?"

Get over yourself. Rediculous to get angry over such a thing.
Smile, or wave.
