I am 6 monhts pregnant and my job is too physical and I can't be on my feet all day. So I thought for the last 3 months or so I would put up an add fro 'community and personal assistance' to help around my town by: doing laundry, helping people with shopping, driving them to appointment, babysitting for 'odd' shifts, medning. All these things are in my home or community, not their home and can be done while my older daughter is in school. Is this a good or weird idea?

Here's mine. One time, me and my friends went to a costume party. One of us suggested that one of us should dress as Frankenstein. My friend says, "Nah! Frankenstein's too cliche! I wanna dress as someone even scarier than Frankenstein." So he dressed as Hitler. ****! When we got to the party, there were Jews! Damn! Boy--did we get jumped! Stupid Hitler costume!

I don't want to sound crass when asking the question, but I am going to be attending a funeral soon and want to give my boss an idea when I'll take off work.

I hosted a formal dinner party and invited quite a few people from the corporation who are important for my husband. I also invited my friend and she could bring a guest, which is her new boyfriend. The guy is not the kind of person I'd like to socialize with by choice, but I gave it a chance since he's my friend's new love.

I didn't know how it happened because I was busy in the kitchen helping the servers, but later on people said he actually asked the CEO how much he makes! We're pretty sure the big guy was offended, because he answered with something like none of your business. He's an old fashioned man in his late 60. He was very quiet during dinner and left way too early. I knew this man has always been friendly everytime I met him in other events. Now people in the office talked about like, 'I can't believe that guy talked to HIM like that.'

Do I need to write the CEO an apology letter because I was the host and responsible for inviting that rude person? What should I write?

Ok when I was in highschool I used to label some people as cool and the others as loser, nerds, geeks, etc.
Now I am acting the same way. I am very particular about the people I hang with. I will put down the people I deem uncool etc. I want to have an open mind but I always label people and sometimes I embrass them if I think they are uncool. Do others do the same? I haven't moved on with some of my highschool way of thinking how can I move on? Also, I heard many people say not to judge but I start judging from the second I see a person and can't stop it what is the best way to give others chance to prove themselves?

i am not really aggresive and i don't like confrontational at all. i don't know what to say when in uncomfortable situation. i don't like being jugded (i know no one does) and when i am being ridiculed, i shut down and don't say anything b/c i get really offended. when someone says "thats stupid" or "your stupid" i get upset. people are so quick to judge and criticized, and the same people don't like being criticized. anyway, my question is, how do you deal with crticism?? what do you say?? how do you react?? how can i react without being so mean?? any suggestions?? thanks.

I have couple friends who I call "self-inviters." Some I work with and they'll invite themselves to lunch when I go with a group of other people. Others will invite themselves to parties or other get-togethers. It's not that I don't like them, just that I think it's rude to self-invite yourself to something. And I don't want the other group of friends to think I'm inviting more people who we don't necessarily want to hang out with.

Are these people rude or do I just have a weird pet peeve?

Maybe something creative.

I am 25 years old. I was at a clothing optional beach on Saturday. I teach elementary school in West Palm Beach. I figured there is no way any students will be at a clothing optional beach. I ran into a group of 3 girls at the beach. They saw me lying naked on the beach towel. They are in high school. They were in their bikinis. When they approached me, I was totally naked and they all were saying hi and kind of giggling. I got so embarrassed. I don't teach them anymore as they are 7th grade now in a different school but now they saw me naked. What should I do?

I know some people still send flowers, but is there something else I could send or do? He's having a viewing Wednesday night and a memorial service Thursday morning. What gesture would be appropriate since he's not being buried?

Since he's not being buried, there won't be a gravesite to leave the flowers, and his widow will end up with tons of flowers. Is there something I could give instead of flowers?

If he throws a tantrum:
I say : Do you think that is appropriate behavior amongst these people?
If he calls me a name: "Please refrain from that language, and apologize," and then I find out his mom calls him names after I ask him.
If He Doesn't want to listen, I'll say: "I am telling you these things for you own good, and want you to behave appropriately.
I am his aunt and only see him 2X a month, and instill values and morals in him, however his mother cusses, and yells, and is mean. How do you think this kid will be confused? Will he pick good manners over bad? Anyone experience this?

So, I accidentally misspoke out of habit and asked for type X of product.
I said that "I meant the Y type of the product".
The clerk said "You did say X type of product".
I said "I know. I meant to ask for Y type of product".
(It was a force of habit mistake.)

When she went for the Y type of the product, she get's pissy and say's "Are you sure you want this type?"

Yeah, she seemed to have a weight issue and doing anything more than what she had to do seemed so stressful.
(I've never seen nor spoke to this woman in my life)

I just got my stuff and left.

I should have smarted off and said "Take it all back, I have decided to take my business elsewhere".

Yeah, that is why I don't prefer being social.
Simple things get so complicated.
I seem to meet these people with issues all the time.

So, when did the clerk become more important than the convenience?
