Do you have a receptionist at your office, and are you kind a polite to her? A tip for interviewers: the receptionist is ASKED whether or not she likes the candidate and her opinion can sway the final result on hiring you!! BE POLITE!!!

Every single day, I see people smoking in areas that are designated as non-smoking. Be it a college campus or a train station or just any place. Sometimes the smokers are smoking standing right next to the non-smoking sign. What is the best way to tell them not to smoke in those areas without offending them?

My brother and I are having a disagreement. Him and his girlfriend came over to my house, I had otehr guests as well. We were all sitting aroung a table in the bar (our private bar in our house, not like a public bar), and they were constantly kissing each other. I think that is VERY rude, he thinks he was just being nice and showing this girl that he cares for her. I think he should show her that in private.

Now, don't get me wrong, I don't think there is anything wrong with a little kiss in passing, but toi sit there kissing for like 10 minutes straight and do it over and over in front of everyone else makes everyone uncomfortable, and is just rude. He thinks there was nothing wrong with it at all and that we are just picking on him.

What do you all think?

(by the way he is in his 40's, not a teenager)

I for one find it offensive that over 90% of my mail is garbage ie flyers credit card add ect. I truely think we need to outlaw bulk mail.
If we need something we can apply for it. If I want to know what is on sale I can pick up a flyer at the stoor. Very seldom do I ever even look at most of the crap in my mail. It goes from my mail box to the recycleing which take me valuble time to take to depot...

My husband and I were at the Chinese restaurant last night. There were two teenage girls who recognized the two teenage guys who were sitting at the table across from us. They proceeded to talk loudly enough for all sitting near to hear about how they knew each other. THEN they took their cell phones out and started playing all of their ringtones for each other!!!! It's one thing if your cell phone rings. It's a whole new level of OBNOXIOUS when you make FOUR cell phones ring with all kinds of different songs for 10 minutes!

My husband's great uncle passed away yesterday. We have not seen him in the seven or eight years we have been together. The funeral is a two hour drive away and I have an nine month old baby. I really do not want to go! Would this be that bad?

I am horrible at writing thank you notes, I have always been this way and end up procrastinating doing it for so long that sometimes I never do it!! I know this is terrible as I am so thankful for everything I am given. My mother is throwing me a baby shower in two weeks, I was thinking of writing a pre-party thank you note to everyone attending and giving it to them the day of the party. I thought I could write a personal note to each person thanking them for being a part of mine and my husbands life and how great it will be for our son to grow up knowing them etc... and attaching the note to a bulb of some sort (gardenia, tulip, etc..) and saying something like, here is a little something you can plant and always remember the love I have for you (that sounds cheesy, but I would write something similar) What do you think?

My friend and I are in discussion over gratuity for the person who cuts our hair. We are both generous tippers, and we both go to the same person. Our stylists now has his own shop, and his prices are much more expensive. She says that it is not expected to tip the owner, but she does leave $20 behind just because. I on the other hand leave 18 to 20 percent (which is a lot on the total costs to get my hair done by him). She thinks that is crazy b/c he is the owner. I did find etiquette on that everyone who touches your hair should get a tip.... 15 to 20% for the person who did your hair plus $5 to $10 to each person who touched your hair... I also found etiquette advice that the owner should NOT be tipped. What is the general thoughts from this community on this topic? Should the owner at a salon (who is expensive in the first place) be tipped at all?

My aunt died on a Monday and a wake was held on Thurs. and a funeral on Friday. My husband, myself and my children were extremely close to her. The funeral/wake took place about 600 miles away from where we live. My mother has been caring for my aunt for the past 1 1/2 yrs. (doctor appts., chemo, radiation, etc.) We have three children (all in school) and decided that it would be best for only me (the niece) to fly in without my husband. I returned on Sat. morning. My mother-in-law lives about 120 mi. away and could have stayed with the kids only on Thursday. I did not have any other family to ask to watch the kids. I also did not ask any of my friends to watch the kids.

My mother and my other aunt did not understand why my husband was not flying in with me or why we did not drive in with the entire family. They currently are not speaking to me. I am very hurt and wonder how others would deal with this situation?

This is probably a dumb question but...

Two different scenarios:
Scenario 1: A cute/hot/attractive guy is checking you out in the car next to you, most likely trying to get your attention. How do you react?

Scenario 2: A guy who you don't fidn very attractive is checking you out in the car next to you, most likely trying to get your attention. How do you react?
