Hope she's not reading this. I am polite to her, but most of the office hates her, she recycles everything, and makes them shake the toner cartridges for printers and copiers to try and get that last bit out, and when they have for the third time, she does it again just to make sure. Is your pen out of ink, let it sit with the tip down for a moment then try again, the water experiment was a catastrophe.
Actually some of her ideas are good ones, such as tracking files through the office and storage, but then some are just well, think you get the picture. It wouldn't be so bad if the office was hurting for money, or if she was really in charge of expenditures, but all she does is make up the list of what the office needs each week to be ordered.
I believe though we could make a fortune renting her out to the airline industry, her penny pinching could really help them save money, it does us but it causes everyone headaches.

We don't have one in this office but a receptionist is usually the only person who knows where to find anything in an office. Everyone should be nice to receptionists because they have to power to find or lose any important document.

Rudeness to a receptionist is like committing professional suicide.

Always...she / he is the first person our customers see and speaks to. It's very important to make a good first impression.

And yes, I do ask my Assistant what she thinks of the candidate when we interview.

I most certainly am, she is the heart and soul of our department. Without her, I would be lost. I let her know each day what a good job she is doing.

Ya. I don't treat people differently based on what they do. I treat everyone equally, whether it's the janitor or the CEO of the company ;)
