maybe if you lost some weight, he'd have more respect for you and give you the money.

Here's what to do:
Show up at his home in the late evening, just about the time people settle in with a book or a television show. Knock on the door and request the money. If he won't give it to you, tell him you'll be back the next night. You could also do this in the early morning, if you'd prefer.
Do the same thing each night until he gives you the money. It might take a few days, but this does work.
And in the meantime, stop giving him lifts!

Ask in a polite but firm manner that he will pay you installements from Monday £20 once a week until the debt is paid or you will be taking the bed back. Say no to lifts unless he pays for the petrol.
Good luck, be brave.

There are a number of ways to look at this. If you really need the money then, be upfront and demand the money on payday after all HE OWES YOU not the other way around. You could also let everyone know he owes you money and he won't pay.
OR
Take it on the chin and learn from it, if it cost you £130 to get this loser out of your life its cheap at twice the price.
Either way cut the guy off no more lifts no more friends just strictly professional.

Stop being polite the time has come to take action the longer it goes on the more he thinks he has got away with it. Just say to him "You thought that was a fair price we were asking for the bed" when he replies tell him you want the money within 14days else you want the bed back. If you get the bed back take it and dump it on the tip Learn your lesson and dont forget you are not a taxi service either.

£130 might be a lot to pay back in one go. Rather than risk this going on without a resolution, why not suggest to him that he has £32.50 go to you each month by standing order. Let him know that you're feeling the pinch yourself and know it's a bit hard to just hand over that money all at once, but that you've had a big bill arrive.
Maybe he'll be less evasive if he thinks he's helping you rather than being hounded for something.

Well it's time you learn to say no. You owe this guy NOTHING! he owes you. No more rides, you're not a taxi. It's time to start standing up for yourself or people like that sod are going to keep on walking on you for the rest of your life. Next time at work confront him and tell him you want the money now. It's time to get back your self respect.

put the details down in writing address it properly and make it look like somewhat of an invoice - note that you have asked for the payment several times since the delivery/collection of the goods and to-date have not received such payment then add that 21days from the date of the letter you will have no other option than to make a court order for the payment - if he rebukes your claim explain that you've looked into this and its quite legal and the fact that you had a 'gentleman's agreement' will go in your favour then its up to you whether he pays or if you want to call his bluff - also explain that the outcome means he will probably have to pay the court costs as well so you can't lose either way - good luck

Next time he asks you for a lift you could always try stopping at a cash point on the pretext that you need cash. Then just say, "Oh, as we are here, any chance of that cash you owe me". I hate these situations too, I know someone exactly like this guy. I won't even buy her a Mars Bar now unless I get the cash first!!!

Beating around the bush won't solve this one. You have to ask him outright and don't back down. Give the guy a deadline. Tell him you owe someone else the money and they are frowning upon you as a bad payer because of him. It's a tough situation to be in but you could always send someone else to pick him up when he asks for a lift... someone who can have a word.. if you know what I mean...

1) Stop giving him lifts - just treat him on a professional rather than friendly basis
2) Write to him & keep a copy, detailing the original agreement, when you've asked him for the money and say that if he doesn't make some agreement to pay you back then you will take legal action.
If you don't like 2), then just try nagging him all the time and he'll pay you back in the end just to stop that.
