I am 6 monhts pregnant and my job is too physical and I can't be on my feet all day. So I thought for the last 3 months or so I would put up an add fro 'community and personal assistance' to help around my town by: doing laundry, helping people with shopping, driving them to appointment, babysitting for 'odd' shifts, medning. All these things are in my home or community, not their home and can be done while my older daughter is in school. Is this a good or weird idea?

Might be kind of tough to develop a client base for such a temporary thing. But then again, people told the guy who invented Fed Ex shipping it was an impractical idea...
Go for it!

Stick to seniors maybe for your safety, but it sounds like a great idea! A guy in my community (35,000) started a cab company based on seniors and charges a flat rate ($5.00 for seniors, $6.00 for others). He started with one cab and now has a fleet of five. Put a notice up at senior facilities and places where they are known to gather (community centres) and you're set! Good Luck!

If you live in a small town and are well known it would work out good but if not it would take a long time to build up clientele for that short of a time .

It's a good idea and one that has caught on in big cities. They're called personal domestic assistants. They'll grocery shop, pick up dry cleaning, run errands, etc. Good luck, hope it works out well for you.

This is a good idea, I think that a lot of senior citizens will respond because they need rides to places and they can't do all the gocery shopping themselves.
