Sometimes I am. I hold doors open for people (even though they think I should for some reason.... that I don't get!), I say "please" and "thank you" all of the time. I give good eye contact, shake hands, smile, and listen intently to everything people have to say.
Now, with that said, I work in retail. I am very fake at work. With my friends, husband, and kid I am a jokester, laugh a lot (and not a cute laugh.... like a big man belly laugh), smile a lot, and make crude jokes (not to my kid obviously). When I hold the door for someone and they don't say thank you, I say, "You're fu**in welcome, b**ch." I am generally not rude, but i can't deal with rude people. They just get to me. Just normal manners are hard to find now-a-days.
Anyway, as for me being nice, I say yes and no. It just depends on the situation.

I'm friendly to people I first meet, and to my family, and to my friends, and to my coworkers, and to people I want to impress.
I'm not friendly to people who make fun of other people, people who are mean to me, people who generally get on my nerves, or to my sister.
