i am not really aggresive and i don't like confrontational at all. i don't know what to say when in uncomfortable situation. i don't like being jugded (i know no one does) and when i am being ridiculed, i shut down and don't say anything b/c i get really offended. when someone says "thats stupid" or "your stupid" i get upset. people are so quick to judge and criticized, and the same people don't like being criticized. anyway, my question is, how do you deal with crticism?? what do you say?? how do you react?? how can i react without being so mean?? any suggestions?? thanks.

A) I'm:
:) 1) not a complete idiot - Some parts are missing.
2) out of my mind. Most of the times I'm back in five minutes.
3) sure god must love stupid people; He made so many. :p

B) I know that "he" wants me to feel offended. Why give them satisfaction ?

C) I ask a q like: "Why do you think I'm stupid ?" and than a new q about his answer ...

D) I'll say something like: "Even a stupid man can call me stupid, so what wise things can you do ?" and than I'll try to find interesting topics to talk about with my "friend". Or I'll ask: "What makes you laugh ?" ... Depends on that particular situation.

E) Later, if I still have bad feelings I jog, box, etc
And I'm asking myself what should I learn from this kind of problems. How can I make it a optimal life experience.

Sometimes works for me. :))

Just respond with a smile and say I'm sorry that you feel that way. Then get away from the situation.

There are an almost endless number of thing that can be said. Like, You seem to be upset. Is there anything that I can do to help, is a good one.

Just don't get drawn into their drama with them. Remember, the things that they say have everything to do with them and absolutely nothing to do with you. Their comments neither define nor describe you in any way.

Love and blessings Don

Firstly, saying "thats stupid, or you're stupid" flat out concerning something you did or said means the same thing and is unacceptable.

I would ask this person (hopefully not someone you thought was a friend) to "just listen to yourself".

No one likes to be criticized. Consider the source of the comments - is it from someone you respect? opinion that matters? Being done from spite?

Don't be mean, be clever. Don't feed negativity.

Well there is two types of criticism. Helpful and just plain rude.

If someone gives you helpful criticism, just say thank you i will take that into consideration.

If someone says that you're stupid, thats just them being a jerk - just say to them, if you talk to me like that i will speak to you in the same way, and i know you can't handle it because obviously you can dish it out but can't take it back.

lots of people have the problem of giving hurtful things out to people, but once someone stands up to them, they can't handle it. People like that are not worth your time. Dont let weak people like that bother you

If I were you I would never put up with anyone calling me stupid. When a person calls another a name it is to make themselves look good or feel better. When they say things like that just look them in the eyes and say"I'm sorry you think that of me" and then just walk away.A true Friend would never put you down to make themselves look better.Defend yourself by walking away.If they start to follow just tell them LOUDLY to leave you alone..Good luck and stay strong.

You need to learn karate.. then when somebody say that you're stupid or something you say or think is stupid, you can stand up for yourself by karate chopping them in the throat. Trust me, Cupcake.. they'll never disrespect you again.
