I am 25 years old. I was at a clothing optional beach on Saturday. I teach elementary school in West Palm Beach. I figured there is no way any students will be at a clothing optional beach. I ran into a group of 3 girls at the beach. They saw me lying naked on the beach towel. They are in high school. They were in their bikinis. When they approached me, I was totally naked and they all were saying hi and kind of giggling. I got so embarrassed. I don't teach them anymore as they are 7th grade now in a different school but now they saw me naked. What should I do?

They are in a different school now so whats to worry about?

If you feel this might be a problem in future then you need to consider covering up maybe?

I'm not sure which state you live in but in some places, you'd have lost your job for that. In fact, a teacher here in Austin just lost her job for modeling nude for a very artsy, completely legitimate artist here in town.

A student saw it, told others about it, and she was fired, because it was decided that she could "no longer command the children's respect." Did I think the teacher had done anything wrong? No. Not at all. Did I agree with their decision to fire her? Absolutely.

You need to understand that a teacher is held to a different standard of behavior than other people, along with doctors, lawyers, clergy and law enforcement. And while I don't necessarily think it's RIGHT, that's just how it is, and it's a part of the profession that you chose. People expect an awful lot from teachers, even though we pay them so little. But think about this: If one of those girls had taken a picture of you with her cell phone (and how do you know one didn't?) and showed it to others in your school, how would you feel then?

If you're going to be involved with teaching people's children, you might need to make some changes in where you spend your free time, whether you think it's fair or not. There is nothing wrong with being nude in a place that allows it, but you can't control the way a story is told or the way a picture is passed from one person to another. Either go to private, all nude beaches - where everyone is at the same level and there are no minors allowed - or keep your clothes on when you're in public, and hope that no one believes the girls when they tell the story of seeing you naked. 'Cause trust me, they've told everyone they've spoken to since then.

Sorry. And Good luck.

I guess you said Hi politely and that's that. You were not doing anything wrong or improper, just enjoying lying naked in the sun.

In some European countries clothing is optional in city parks areas. There is nothing wrong or embarrassing in being naked in clothing optional areas.

There's not anything you CAN do, they chose to go to a clothing optional beach and their parents let them. It's life, there is nothing wrong with the human body - we make it into something "dirty". I'd say it was an experience and it happened, embarrassing or not, just let it go and move on.

It was a clothing optional beach so you were doing nothing wrong. Just ignore the situation unless they bring it up and just laugh it off if that happens.

first off 7th graders have no business being at a beach like that and second dont criticize this guy for wanting to go to a beach where he can relax. Go on with your life dude. Dont worry about it.... they'll learn the difference between boys and girls eventually. And some schools are called High schools even though they are 7th-12th..... Just like junior high USED to be 7th-8th.... now its middle school 6th-8th..... THINK RETARDS

Obviously you are not ashamed of your body so you should not be ashamed to let other people see it. So what if your former students saw you naked. That's the risk you are taking going to a nude beach.

Say "hi" back.

You have nothing to be ashamed of. I am sure that by the age of highschool, they have seen a nude male body before. Probably think you are cool for nude bathing.

Don't do anything. You have done nothing wrong it a clothing OPTIONAL beach!

That's a two-way street. Do you suppose their parents are aware their children are on a clothing optional beach? I'lll bet they aren't.

Just look in their direction, offer a warm hello and then go about your sunbathing.

If it really bothers you, I'd stop going to the beach, well naked anyway. Wear a bikini next time.
