I once found a hundred, but couldn't take it, so I handled it to police... It's probably for someone who needs it

you know i've been scrolling down and looking at all these answers and some people are greedy and some are just a tad bit too honest. i wouldn't know what to do if that envelope was in my hand; my conscience would go this and that. so i guess the beneficial thing to do is go to the police station and give it to them and after a month if nobody claims it, then it's mine. im a straight edge person so i would feel better if i'd done that.

I would probably turn it in. If I found it in say a Kroger parking lot I would turn it in there. If I found it out the street, I would probably give it to the police. $500 is a lot of money...it could be a person's house payment.

Now, I have stumbled upon $5 before. I kept that though :-)

Hand it in, it's not mine.

It's sad to read how many people would keep it, but then money is important to so many people... I've always had enough to eat, live in a safe place & get the few comforts that are important to me (decent computer, my kitties), but beyond that I've never cared for the rat race. If I were to keep it I'd only put it in the bank anyhow, I have nothing I want to buy with $500.

I'd turn it in to the police, because first of all that's what I'd want the finder to do if I lost that kind of money; second of all, I'd be afraid that it was drug money or something from illegal activities and that the person who lost it might somehow be able to track me down. I don't need $500 bad enough to compromise my integrity or risk my safety.

Keep it and see if anyone would come up to say they lost it, and after 30 days or so and no one advertised to say they lost it, I'd keep it. Of course, you should have put the money in an interest bearing savings account from the start.

take it to the place station. rest assured SOMEONE will come looking for it. It may seem risky but the police ask people how much money they lost.. if they don't have the right amount.. they don't get it. Its tempting to keep it.. i know! but in the long run its better.... plus what goes around comes around... maybe they'll give you a reward!

I would keep the money. If it is so important to someone it would be hard to just drop.

The most money I ever found at one time is 20$ and I kept it.

Well, the right answer is to give it to the police, because it isn't yours and that is a lot of money. The human thing to do is to take it and throw a huge *** party with all of your friends. The wrong thing to do is to take the money and blow it all on cocaine.

Take it as a payment for all the nice things you have done to people... and continue being good with everyone... next time you'll find a credit card with no limit...
