It's really cold and windy outside in sunny downtown DC today. Several people have slunk past my office this morning and asked "Is it cold enough out there for ya?". NO, YOU DWEEBS! OF COURSE IT'S NOT COLD ENOUGH FOR ME. I'M ONLY FREEZING MY @SS OFF! I WOULD LIKE FOR IT TO BE AT LEAST 30 DEGREES COLDER! Why the heck do people always ask this question?

When I see women grinding with strange men and practically having sex with them in public, I feel embarrassed. I can't get myself to do something like that to a woman I barley even know, and in front of everyone else! Do you think I should stop going to clubs to pick up women?

I'm 5'8" not exactly an amazon, but people make me sound like one. I get comments like "wow you're a tall girl" or how tall are you, and i answer and they act like i'm lying. I hate when they say "wow you're tall do u play basketball"? I feel like saying wow you're short do you play miniature gulf? but i don't want to stoop to their level.
I'm not that tall. Why do people feel it's okay to ask me this all the time??
It's kinda like saying wow you are really fat! Not really the same, but you get what i'm saying. So is it rude or should i let it slide????

Like seriously? Even since the first man fell after slipping over a banana peel, everyone started laughing at him and it has been going on for decades. The meaner we speak of that particular person, the funnier it seems to the others. What do you really think?

I just received a promotion to Supervisor. Prior to this promotion, I was somewhat social and friendly with my co-workers; some even visited my home. One of these co-workers was interviewed for this same position and we had already discussed our mutual respect for each other should the other be awarded the promotion. We wished each other well and anxiously awaited the announcement. I was offered the position yesterday and was asked to remain confidential until the non-selected applicants were notified. Today, they were notified and I'm unsure how to approach those that were non-selected. I certainly don't want to make them feel bad for being non-selected, however I don't want to avoid them and the issue at hand either. Any suggestions on a suitable approach to this awkward situation?

I have this coworker who is in her late 40's. My problem is that whenever she doesn't have anything to do, she comes up to my desk and starts talking about anything that pops into her head. She even tells me about her bodily functions, like when she has to use the bathroom and stuff like her food has gone straight through her, it gets pretty graphic and disgusting. If I am doing something, she will stand at the side of my desk and watch me, making all kinds of sighing sounds and yawning. Its very annoying and unprofessional. I am the receptionist and she still stands at my desk when the phone rings or even when someone walks in. I try to be nice and answer questions when she asks, but most of the time I am ignoring her and she still stays up here. Can someone please tell me how to nicely tell her to go back to her desk and leave me alone? Thanks

I've known him for years. He was the best man at my wedding. He has hitherto seemed quite a liberal tolerant person but some of the things he's written about disgust me. I'm certain I'm not missing the point or anything. It's just an offensive piece of trash that's been years in the writing. He gave up his job and his social life to do it. He's coming back from holiday (a treat to himself for finishing it) in a couple of days and he's going to know what I thought of it. What do I do?

Why must everyone (people from outside the U.S.) come on to yahoo answers of all places to talk trash about the States? Why can't they keep their opinions to themselves? Do they really feel as if they are so superior to the United States that they should be the spokes persons for their country?

My cousin-in-law's wedding is coming up and as the best man I am expected to provide for certain arrangements at the reception. One thing that puzzles me is spittoons.

Most of the bride and groom's guests are from Arkansas, and as such there will be a large percentage of tobacco chewers and snuff dippers.

Many brass spittoons were converted for scrap during WWII, so acquiring them is not as easy as you might expect. Can spittoons made from other materials be substituted for formal occasions?

Also, should there be seperate spittoons for the gentlemen and womenfolk, or is that an anachronism in the modern era?

There's a girl I really like. Anyways we went out for about two days but she broke it off because of her ex boyfriend issues. She mentioned it as complications but she still likes him.

Anyways I kind of blew it by unloading on her prematurely too much of my feelings after the break up (It was only two days after all so I feel stupid that I did that). By feelings I mean stuff like "O, I may never find another girl like you again".

I think I may have ruined the chance of us being just friends.

She came online briefly after I had sent her an apology saying I was being a jackass and selfish. Anyways we didn't talk for long as she said she was going out and that was it.

When I asked her out I gave her a cd, a compilation of some of my best songs. Do you think I should send her some via email to try to keep in touch? Or would I just be imposing when she is happy with her boyfriend? Or do you think she would appreciate it?

It is some pretty damn good music, if not the best.
