It's really cold and windy outside in sunny downtown DC today. Several people have slunk past my office this morning and asked "Is it cold enough out there for ya?". NO, YOU DWEEBS! OF COURSE IT'S NOT COLD ENOUGH FOR ME. I'M ONLY FREEZING MY @SS OFF! I WOULD LIKE FOR IT TO BE AT LEAST 30 DEGREES COLDER! Why the heck do people always ask this question?

I don't understand why you're so irate over this.

It's just small talk. People always talk about the weather. If you let this kind of thing get to you, you will be a very unhappy person.

Yeah, it seems like a dumb question, but that's just the way people say things nowadays when they want to make a statement of the obvious and have you agree with them. Think of it as them saying "It's freezing out there, don't you agree?"

ahhhhhhh, the joys of office small talk. Small talk in itself is usually pointless chatter. Better than talking to ones' self, I guess.

I agree with dmb. Its just conversation. Yeah, its a stupid thing to say but they are just trying to be nice by talking.

They're just making superficial conversation. Think of it as a glorified way of saying hello.

Oh what a bad apple you are. They are only scknowledging your presence with polite "nothings" You are so unworthy of the effort.

They are just trying to make you laugh. They didn't mean to annoy you.
