because people are gullible enough to believe everything the media tells them and they don't question it. pits bull are wonderful dogs. you only here the bad things instead of the good things about them because that's all the media wants you to hear. but all of you who answered their vicious, they are killers of the dog world, come on you probably never even met one that has a descent owner. these dogs are in the dog show rings, they are in the obedience rings, they run agility and they do these with other dogs around them and don't attack. saying all pitbulls are bad cause the one down the street killed the neighbors cats is as bad as saying black people are all bad cause the one down the street shot up the neighbors house, or the mexicans are bad cause one stabbed a friend of mine, or all white people are racists because they owned slaves hundreds of years ago. only difference is they are human and can rationalize better than a dog. the dog is trained to be vicious, and if that's the only way they can eat or get praised then that's what they are going to do. so don't blame a whole breed cause some stupid *** punk bitches decide it "cool" to sic their dog on another animal or person.

It hasn't been proved that they have a tendency to attack. ANY DOG HAS THIS TENDENCY IF PROVOKED. I have a pittbull myself and got very affected by various laws, because the truth is he's such a wossy, he wouldn't hurt a cat. But the truth is that people ARE afraid of them because, yes, there have been cases in which they have attacked. But not only pittbulls, dobermans and rottweilers as well. It really depends on the way the dog has been brought up.
Everything about this mania has started from the fact that pittbulls are the most encountered breed when it comes to DOG FIGHTS, this is why they have the reputation of violent creature.

Many of them have been featured on the news as being vicious and ferocious. Unfortunately, this has tarnished the reputation of the breed as a whole.
To me, it's just like Dobermans, or Rottweilers - it's not the breed of the dog, but the breeding of their guardian that determines whether or not a dog will be a monster. Some people teach their dogs to be cruelly violent.

Because pit bulls are such loyal and powerful dogs, they've gained a reputation of attacking and being agressive. This is because when they do attack, they frequently do so in a way that causes more damage than other breeds because of their power and the way their mouths are shaped because of what they were bred to do - "dog cattle" - by latching on to their noses and pulling.
Unfortunately, people fail to see that it's the behavior of the owner that's much more important in how friendly the dog is.
As an aside, I saw the lovliest, most well-mannered pit bull this past weekend. He was tiger-striped with vivid oranges and blacks, well-maintained and his toes were neatly trimmed. He obviously enjoyed much time in the house and responded well to soft verbal discipline - a firm but not loud NO - without cowering at all. Wonderful doggie!

I certainly wouldn't claim that EVERYONE is rude to them. My friend has 4 pits and some people are a little hesitate to get near them because of the breeds reputation for being aggressive.

I have to say when I am out on a walk with my children, I am a little wary of pit bulls. I wouldn't say I was rude, but careful. I always ask, no matter what kind of dog, if we can pet the dog. If the person says the dog is nice or friendly, we pet them, even pit bulls.

Because unfortunately you hear about 1 bad dog out of a breed, suddenly every dog thats that breed is viewed badly. It comes from people not understanding animals, and breeds and just being naieve.

Sadly because of irresponsible owners who breed their dogs for fighting or who buy them as some sort of compensation for their ahem shortcomings and do not bother to responsibly control their dogs the breed has gained a reputation for violence.

For the same reason people are rude to serial killers...because of the violators indiscretion on whom they choose to attack at any given moment.

How can you be rude to a dog?
My daughter has one and it's ok. I don't like her pit cuz it doesn't like my dogs or me. I don't trust it, but my daughter loves that little demon dog.
