unless it is life threatening just stop the argument.

i normally just become quiet and say okay if that is what you say. most folks i have encountered like this must have the last word and don't really listen to what you say anyway so when you just stop the argument they assume they have won you over to their point of view.

when i think i am right and the other person wrong, unless they can show me proof (dictionay, magazine, picture, etc) i will not change my mind. if it is just a logistical thing then they have to prove it to me logically. if i don't get their logic then i still will not change my mind.

you are not always going to agree with folks. that is life. some folks just have a need to be right all the time; i don't know why. but just patronize them and let it go, as long as you know the truth of the matter, who cares what they think (unless it is life threatening).

Choose your words carefully around these people. If you have to correct them, be sure you have proof to back it up. Try and leave them a way to save face when you have to correct them. There is no harm in throwing in a few compliments to them too. ie compliment them, show them how they were wrong, compliment them again. If you can, try and make them think that they thought of the correction them self.

If you are in a rushed situation and you are facing a person like that, you will just have to strong arm them and then explain why later.

You can either not deal with them at all or just sit and listen. When they ask you a question just give them a one sentence answer. Let them finish the answer.

That is a great question. I usually try to avoid most discussions with the person. It is even more difficult if you are related to such a person, and live with them.

Actually, my husband used to be this way. He would fight and say the most outrageous things that made absolutely no sense in order for his arguement to sounds genuine. I got lucky. He changed and accepted the fact that we both need to apologize and admit our wrongdoings.

It's impossible to deal with such people. Don't deal with them.

It is best to avoid conversations with Christians (or zealots of any kind) just for this reason. People that think they are never wrong aren't listening to anything you say anyway.............
