Should the fact that the person did the right thing be enough or should you offer them something for returning it to you? If so, what should be offered?

My school is having its first winter ball this afternoon. They have only given us a week's notice. THe attire is "semi-formal no jeans permitted." Lotsa people are buying floor length/homecoming dresses. I thought semi-formal was like a skirt/dress shirt....

Would it be appropriate for me to go in a nice black skirt and red dress shirt or should I assume I wouldnt fit in with all the sophmores-wearing-prom-dresses and not go?

This is a priest helped us out in paperwork. This ensured that our wedding would go off without a hitch(and on time as scheduled). I was an aquaintence of his years ago in college before he entered the seminary(we weren't best of friends or anything like that at the time).

I have the Neighbour From Hell living below me, all the usual, loud music until my floor shakes, Shouting, arguments furniture being thrown about.
I've had electric guitar being played at 3am in the bedroom and constant cartoon graphic noises when they "make love" This has gone on for 2 years, with no success from the official routes. How can I persuade them to move? I own my home and can't afford to move, they are in social housing. I've reached the end of my teather!

Well after selling my Restaurant business of 25 years, and now
have worked for 4 different big Restaurants and Retailing Corporatioins, I have found that, besides other issues, pay
are very, very low; so how does this society expect workers in
general to be nice to customers.Today people don't do anything
for nothing, besides only the Mgrs. get the credit; the workers get
not even an appreciation words or proper raise, maybe one would
get a dirty-psychology talk, but people need $$$ to survive. There
are a lots of nice people out there still, but Mgrs. don't know how to
hold-on, on them, all they care is to keep the budget down and higher promotion for themselves. Please anwer to my comments
since I have done this before and everyone keeps their mouth shut
so why even bother bring it up in the news if you guys are not really
listening to the working-society, remember you got to be in other
people's shoes. T.Y. eidawong@yahoo.com

Ok, my suitemates play their music loud usualy from about 11pm till 3 am. This effects me because I am currently studying to take the MCATs and my schedule is packed during the weekday and I really need my sleep. My roomate hates the noise too. We have talked with them about it, we are even friends with them. The problem is they usually play the music loud because they are drunk. We've told the RA and the campus police and they usualy only fix it for either the night or the 5 mins they are here. So I've decided to play hardball. Is ther some way I can remotely control the power to the stereo (they have one you plug in to iPods and Computers) cause they are usually so durnk they wouldn't investigate. If not is there some way I can control the max volume on it to put a limit on it. Thanks for your time and thoughts guys.

These people have good intentions but I give on my own and don't really enjoy the guilt that comes with saying no. How do you tell someone asking for money for a worthy cause no without sounding like an uncaring jerk?

I just took a taxi home for $5.10. I gave the guy a 20 and he gave me back 3 fives. I asked if he could break one of them and give me five ones, and then I used four of them to tip him 4 dollars. He acted like I was being petty about the extra dollar. But I think I was still generous, and I'm not very wealthy at the moment. What do you think?
